Bit of a long overdue update.
On sunday the 5th we headed out to harrisville to get some long overdue seat time, as I haven’t really had any practice in the car this season and we wanted to test some new things out!
I went out for my first go and on the first corner the J-bar broke which made things a little harder but still carried on and finished. Second and third go was a lot better working on speed and entry in the corners and trying new lines.

On saturday dad raced at the robertson prestige international speedway for their grand finale, while i headed down to Wellington to race at the Wellington saloon champs.

Saloon:
Race 1: started on grid 12 and had a really good start gaining a few positions and having some really good battles. On lap 8 our brake master cylinder decided it had enough and the brakes overheated and i lost all brakes. Still managed to finish 10th.

Race 2:
Started on grid 5 and had another great start and was coming in 5th until lap 3 and the car started surging and lost all power mid corner. So decided to pull off resulting in a dnf.

Race 3: we thought we had fixed the problem so we decided to go out for heat 3, starting in grid 5, got to the 3rd lap and the car started surging and lost all power again! Resulting in another dnf.

Overall it wasnt the results we were hoping for but lucky enough we have found the fueling issues so we are hoping to hit the track this weekend at Meeanee to race at the East Coast saloon champs. A massive thank you to Blake and gustoff for driving me down to Wellington and being an awesome pit crew.

Sidecar:
Had an awesome field of 10 fast bikes making it some tough good racing. We hadn’t yet raced the 900 after pulling the motor out to put in a brand new second hand clutch and turns out she goes pretty darn good! We took both bikes as we were unsure how the 900 was going to run.

Race 1:
Started on pole and gated awesome but unfortunately the reds came on after a bike had a whoopies. Restarted well again and managed to sneak up the inside in the first corner and held on to take the win.

Race 2:
Got to play with the big boys and started on gate 3, had an awesome start and took the lead, by the end of the first lap we slowly got picked off one by one and ended up finishing 4th.

Race 3:
Started on gate 3 again and didnt get the best start, so we had to do the big charge around the outside to take the lead, by the end of lap 2 we were severely struggling with rear grip making it feel like we had a puncher but managed to hold onto the lead.

Wrapped with how the night went and stoked to come away with 3rd overall season points!

A massive thanks to everyone that helped out and a massive thanks to all of our sponsors, couldnt of done it without them!

On saturday we made the trip up to stratford to race at the saloon best pairs and shootout. it has been a very busy week in the shed for both me and dad trying to fix the saloon and the sidecar but we managed to fix everything in the nick of time.

race 1: started on grid 10 and finished 10th.
race 2: started on grid 5 and finished 5th.
race 3: started on grid 3 and finished 6th.

i was coming 8th equal overall on points and it was the top 8 that went into the shootout and since i was equal with someone it went off who had the quicker lap times and unfortunately i missed out.

for the best pairs i got paired with 3nz Bradley Kroff and a massive thanks to him for carrying us we finished first overall!!

a massive thank you to dad for all the hard work on the car this week and making sure the muffler stayed on this time. also a massive thanks to all my sponsors i wouldn’t be here without them!

AFC Motorcycle Manawatu Sidecar champs + Saloon King Of The Arena!
On saturday night the pits were busy with me and dad both racing at The Robertson Prestige International speedway with both of us having champs there wasn’t a quiet moment.

AFC Motorcycle Manawatu sidecar champs
We had 15 bikes lined up for this but we unfortunately had two pull out at the last minute. Not ideal but boy they miss out on an amazing meeting.
Format was 3 qualifying heats on points with the top four going into a one race final along with a winner from a repechage.
The racing was super fast on an amazing track with over half the field lapping in the 17 seconds.
The first couple of races we gated good but couldn’t quite manage the hot pace with the little old 900 screaming its ring off on the limiter for the entire 4 laps. We came 3rd in both of these races and were happy as with that.
The last qualifying race we gated awesome but heard a big bang then the whole bike was vibrating worse than a harley, as we were in second I decided just send it, we finished in second place but the vibrating was at the point I was struggling to hang on the bike.
Suspecting it was a broken clutch basket we decided to park the bike for the night. Bit of a shame as we easily qualified for the repechage.
Ripped the motor out last night to confirm we were correct with a broken clutch basket. A bit of mess but hopefully have it going by next weekend once I find a new one,
Big congrats to 8p Rob & Jackson for the win, 97p Mike & Ben for 2nd & 89p Wayne & Max for 3rd, all you guys were on fire.
Lastly massive thanks to Robertson prestige speedway for putting on the amazing track.

Saloon King of the Arena.
Race 1: started on grid 10 and was having some really good battles finishing in 9th. The track was a bit wet but it turned into a really fast track.
Race 2: started on grid 3 and was having a great race and was in 5th place until the orange lights came on for an incident and off the restart our exhaust fell off and split our right rear, ending our race with a dnf.

Feature: started on grid 11 and was just sticking with the others until i went into a corner to fast and ended up washed in the wall with a few cars piled up around me. This ended my night. Fortunately we didn’t end up with to much damage but it was unfortunate end to our night.

I would like give a massive shout out to Snazzy Nailz as she has made an awesome set of press on nails that match the saloon for me and it is greatly appreciated so go check her page out and give her some support.
Also a massive thank you to all of our sponsors for all the effort and support they put in to get us where we are:

On saturday we headed over to whangz to race in the adult ministocks. I was sharing the car with rylee as they were racing both youth and adult.

race 2: started on grid 8th and got more confident in the car and finished 7th.
race 3: started on grid 12 and had some really good battles and finished 9th.

Robertson Prestige International Speedway.
It was a bit busy leading up to the weekend as we only got the motor back in and running at 2.30 pm on race day! That’s quite good for me as I had a hour to spare so even had time to go for a swim! We thought we better give the old girl a bit of loving as it was chucking all its water out after every race at the NZ champs!
As we had a bike pull out of the meeting we had a spare spot so I thought we would drag the other bike out of the back of shed , pump up the tyres and chucked it on the trailer also to give it a run.
Ella was keen to jump on the side again so we rode one bike in the 1st group and the other bike with Aiden in the second group, as always Ella did a awesome job swinging on the big open track that palmy is.
As we did little (none) maintenance on the other bike we couldn’t get it into gear to start so just cruised off in second at the start, unbeknown to me the heat shield slipped down on the clutch cover which I ended up with some awesome burn blisters on the inside of my leg, !! Gota Admit that f___ing hurt 😢
Anyway the track got more challenging as the night went on and our results weren’t that good but we finished with plenty of smiles and a laugh.
thanks to all our sponsors couldn’t of done it without them

14•2•26!
Saturday night was a busy night for us. Rach decided she wanted to have a go in a ministock again so she headed over to wanganui while I raced in wellington.

Rach:
Saturday night I ventured to Wanganui with the Barnett Family to have my first Adult ministock race meeting this year sharing Rylee's 65p car.
Race 1 grid 8 - finished 13th, got the big turn 1 push & clipped the wall, just managed to get going again before the carnage behind me swallowed me up again. Restarted & chased hard to the finish line.
Race 2 - grid 18 - finished 12, getting more familiar with the car & had some great laps
Race 3 - grid 6 finished 10th, had a great started & popped out of corner 2 in 4th, chased hard & tried to settle into the race but I stuffed up corner 2 all by myself by going too wide & clipping the wall, lost places, again chased hard, this was definitely my best race of the night.
I had a blast driving the 65p car - was easy to point it any were on the track & felt like it was on rails. Also to be apart of the Wrocket Racing team doing double duties with Rylee, pit crew was on point, awesome track & a good number of other drivers to race with. A great night with both Rylee & I completing all our races with no repairs needed - I'll own the fresh bumper dent & scuffs - my bad sorry.

Elz:
On saturday me and dad headed to wellington to be a support class for the North island super saloon champs.
race 1: started on grid 3 and had a good race with some good battles and ended up coming 5th.
race 2: started on grid 7 and was just doing my own thing and having fun and finished 7th.
race 3: started on grid 2 and got into some turn 1 carnage but made it out and was running 4th for most of the race and I was trying some new lines out wider a bit more and ended up finishing 2nd. by far my best race ever!
Overall it was a really good night for both me and Rach and both cars went on the trailers in once piece which is always great!
A massive thanks to dad for making this possible and to the barnett family for letting Rach race the car. a huge thanks to all of our sponsors we couldn’t do it without them!!

NZ sidecar champs 30th, 31st January 2026.

last weekend we headed up to KihiKihi for our NZ Sidecar champs at McDonald’s Kihikihi Speedway.

It had been a while since we last raced here, in fact it was the last time they had the NZ champs in 2004, unfortunately that didn’t end well but I learnt how to fly, just didn’t quite get the landing right!!

On Friday we had qualifying which consisted of 3 heats on point with the top 12 bikes going to the finals and the rest to do two recharges to find the top 16 bikes.

We were stoked to be 10th

On Saturday we woke up to another scorcher of a day, we must have been serious as we fitted our first new tyre for the season!

Finals day consisted of five races where we raced everyone, and the top three points scores went into the one race “A” final. The next four points scores went to the “B” final where the winner would join the A final.

Race 1:we had a hot lap before the race then on lap 2 a couple of bikes had a tangle up so a restart was needed. We were now down to two bikes, so a guaranteed 2nd place.

On lap two the bike was running extremely hot and went off song a bit and was burning the s**t out of my legs, so we just cruised to the finish. Unfortunately, my flash new leathers have now a nice burn hole in the leg!!

Race 2: gated awesome and went into second but had two bikes breathing down our necks for four laps but somehow managed to hold them off to finish 2nd by .003 of a second!! That was close.

Race 3: this was an all-palmy bike race and what a stuff up by myself, 1st time ever I stalled it on the start line as I didn’t hold it on the limiter as normal as we were getting a bit too much wheelspin out the gate. We managed to fire it up and finished the race but half a lap down!

Race 4: another brilliant start and we slipped into 1st and held this until the last corner where sunstrike was a real bitch for everyone, and we missed our line and drifted a bit wide letting the flying 33b take the win by only .080 of a second! Another very close race.

Race 5: gated awesome but not as good as rest of the hotshots and we finished in forth. Still smiling and happy with that.

Happy as to finish 9th overall on the little ol 900. A big thanks to Aidan for hanging on the back doing a brilliant job as normal and just being you.

That A final was nail biting stuff, with the teams giving it everything they had til the checker, absolutely awesome racing. Congratulations to 34v now 1nz, 3nz (78i) now 2nz and 4k now 3nz all you guys are the benchmark of our sport and totally deserved your podium finishes.

Massive thanks must go to McDonald’s Kihikihi speedway for putting on awesome event and keeping the track in good nick in very hot conditions. Full credit to everyone involved.

Also big thanks to Dave and Mindy, Amber and my big sister Sandra for all your help in the pits, totally appreciated.

Lastly thanks to Brad , Ella and the boys for letting us crash at your place, always good to hang out with the boys and take them for rides on the bikes. This is what speedway is about.

Also massive thanks to our loyal sponsors who help us out in this crazy sport

On saturday we made our way up to stratford, I was excited to see what this track was like in a saloon as I have only raced there in a ministock.
Got grids 8,4,3
first race: was having some good battles learning the track and was trying to find some good lines and seeing what the car felt like.
second race: was getting more confident until something in the steering didn’t feel quite right and ended up spinning out and realised something was wrong.

third race: was having a lot of trouble with the car and felt like there was something wrong with the steering as i couldn’t get into the corners how i wanted to and sparks were flying off the car and ended up spinning out, I went to go restart and realised I had little to no brakes so dnf. After looking over the car we realised the top left ball joint went on a walk 🤦‍♀️

Wasn’t our best night but it was good to get some laps done at stratford. A massive thanks to dad, mum and everyone that helped us out during the week couldn’t have done it without them.
Also a massive thanks to all my sponsors wouldn’t be here without them!

North Island saloon champs!
On saturday I got to compete at the North Island saloon champs held at Robertson Prestige International Speedway. This was my first time competing at a national title and what an adventure it was.

first race started on grid 14 and just stayed close behind everyone and just doing my own thing.

second race started on grid 1 and to say i was nervous was a understatement, just stuck to my line and everyone went around me and finished in 11th.

unfortunately I didn’t have enough points to qualify but I’m just happy to be able to put the car on the trailer without any damage!
Overall it was an awesome night with learning new things and giving it my best shot!

A massive thank you to Dad for teaching me and showing me everything, and for all the hard work you put into the car.
And a massive thanks to all my sponsors couldn’t have done it without them!
