✨ 2026 TRAVEL DAYS ARE STARTING EARLY — AND THIS ONE IS SPECIAL! ✨

🎨 Art, gardens, stories, and great food — all in one perfect day out!

Our first 2026 travel day takes us to the beautiful Puhoi Farmhouse, home to photographer and artist Laura Tait. We’ll visit her garden and gallery, hear what inspired her latest artistic style, and learn how she creates her stunning pieces — a truly inspiring and intimate experience.

We’ll then head to the much-loved Puhoi Pub for a relaxed and delicious lunch (always a crowd favourite 🍽️).

If you haven’t registered with us yet, now is the perfect time.

📞 Call Kayleen on 027 647 5000 to find out how to join and to book this trip — and enjoy many more each month.

We can’t wait to welcome new members into our friendly and fun group of travellers, aged 55 to 95, who love great company, new experiences, and shared memories. 💛

What a wonderful day we shared at Kaipara Coast Plant Centre & Sculpture Gardens.

Aside from the great company we enjoyed many sculptures of all types with some noters for me being (not their real names) — someone left the washing on the line, who let the cones out, and the wishing line that was filled with some funny and sincerely simple wishes from people of all ages. I could have been there all day reading these.

The staff as always were brilliant, the food simple and delicious and the plants we came home with will give us loads of pleasure.

I look forward to seeing you all for our end of year Christmas lunch and then doing it all again with you in 2026.

☕💡 Better Living Tip 💡☕

Next time you put the kettle on, try the “Two-for-One Reminder” 🧠✨

While you’re waiting for it to boil, use those 2–3 minutes to:
🌱 Water a plant
🙆 Do a gentle stretch or balance on one leg
📝 Jot down one thing you’re grateful for
🧹 Pop away a couple of things lying around

These little moments add up to better balance, a brighter mood, and a tidier space. Small habits = big benefits! 💫

💬 We know it can feel hard to join a new group. Walking into a room of people you haven’t met before can be a little daunting — we’ve all been there!

But here’s the wonderful part: most of our members once felt exactly the same way… and now they can’t imagine missing a trip. 🌟

Every month, friendships grow, laughter is shared, and memories are made. 🚌🌸🍽️ You might arrive not knowing anyone, but chances are you’ll leave with a new friend (or three!).

So if you’ve been thinking about joining us, take that first step. We’ll be right there to welcome you. ❤️

Isn’t this lovely and hopeful.

The amazing Patricia Routledge, best remembered as Hyacinth Bucket in the classic BBC sitcom Keeping Up Appearances, has spoken openly about her long life in a moving podcast conversation.

Now aged 97, she reflected on her decades in the spotlight, her more recent hobbies, and shared thoughtful words of encouragement for those who may be anxious about ageing.

Patricia told Jay Speaks:
“My life didn’t quite take shape until my forties. I had worked steadily—on provincial stages, in radio plays, in West End productions—but I often felt adrift, as though I was searching for a home within myself that I hadn’t quite found.”

“At 50, I accepted the role of Hyacinth Bucket in Keeping Up Appearances. I thought it would be a small part in a little series. I never imagined that it would take me into people’s living rooms and hearts around the world.”

In her sixties, Patricia began learning Italian so she could sing opera in its original language. At 70, she made a return to the Shakespearean stage, something she had once thought was behind her.

During her eighties, she discovered a love for watercolour painting, creating flowers from her garden and portraits inspired by faces she recalled from her years travelling on the London Underground.

Now in her nineties, she cherishes the simple joys of life, saying she enjoys handwriting letters and treasures “the quiet.”

“I’m learning to bake rye bread. I still breathe deeply every morning. I still adore laughter – though I no longer try to make anyone laugh. I love the quiet more than ever.”

“I am writing this to tell you something simple: Growing older is not the closing act. It can be the most exquisite chapter – if you let yourself bloom again.

Let these years ahead be your treasure years. You don’t need to be famous. You don’t need to be flawless. You only need to show up – fully – for the life that is still yours.”

Absolutely brilliant from Dame Patricia 👏🏻

🎨 SENIORS DAY OUT – A STEP BACK IN TIME 🏡

In May, we visited the McCahon House Museum in Titirangi — and what a fascinating experience it was! It’s truly incredible to see how the McCahon family lived and created in such a humble, compact space, nestled in native bush and full of creative energy. 🌿✨

We explored a powerful collection of photographs, voice recordings, video footage, and personal writings that brought this iconic Kiwi artist’s story to life.

And in the photo — yes, those are the boys’ bunk beds, which astonishingly had only three walls, opening out onto the bush. That’s right — the fourth wall was nature itself. 🌲

We began the day with a lovely lunch at Deco Eatery, where good food and great company made it a day to remember. 🍽️💬

Every outing brings fresh perspectives, meaningful connection, and shared memories.
