Squad Spotlight - Wesley

This week's spotlight shines on the one and only, club president "Big Wes" - the man who turned a humble pub dream into the reality we see today.

As president, manager, and one of our key club sponsors, it’s safe to say we wouldn’t be where we are without him. Off the pitch, his endless hard work (and maybe a little signature impatience!) behind the scenes is what drives the club forward. An electrician by trade, Wes is quite literally the spark that keeps Ōhau powered up 🔌⚡

On the pitch, Big Wes never shirks responsibility. Our current joint top goal-scorer and self-proclaimed set-piece maestro is always ready to step up and do a job wherever he is needed. While he’s most comfortable pulling the strings in midfield, known for his tidy passing and excellent link-up play to get others involved, his versatility has already seen him do crucial shifts in both attack and defence this season.

A true leader, a massive character, and the ultimate driving force of the club. We’re incredibly proud to have Big Wes leading the charge in the black and gold! 🖤💛

⚽️ FULL TIME ⚽️

This weekend we faced off against Ōtaki Purutaitama, who came away with a 5-0 win.

While the result wasn't what we were hoping for, there are always lessons to take from every match and we'll keep working hard as a squad heading into the next round.

A big thank you to Ōtaki Purutaitama for hosting us and for a good afternoon of football.

This Saturday, Ōhau FC are on the road as we take on Purutaitama at Haruatai Park Ōtaki.

After a tough contest last weekend, we're looking forward to another good afternoon of football and the chance to get back out on the pitch.

Squad Spotlight - Vatau

This week's spotlight is on Vatau, better known around the club as Tau.

Originally joining the Axes as a casual player, Tau has quickly become a committed and valued member of the squad. Now a regular in the starting lineup, he works tirelessly to improve both his own game and the team's performance.

Comfortable in multiple positions and reliable wherever he's needed, Tau is always willing to put the team first. However, he's at his best leading the line, where his work rate and finishing ability make him a constant danger in front of goal, needing only the smallest opportunity to make an impact.

A dedicated player whose commitment and determination continue to set the standard both on and off the pitch. 🖤💛

⚽️ FULL TIME ⚽️

Ōhau FC hosted KCU Bandits at Ōhau Domain this weekend in what proved to be a tough contest from start to finish.

The lads battled hard and managed to find the back of the net through Jay, with a well-worked assist from Tau. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, we couldn't quite do enough to keep the Bandits out, with the visitors claiming a 2-1 victory at full time.

While the result didn't go our way, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance and we'll be looking to build on those heading into next week's match.

A huge thank you to everyone who came down to support the team and joined us back at the clubrooms afterwards. Your support means a lot to the players and the club.

Squad Spotlight - Carter

This week's spotlight shines on Carter, the first youth player to join the Axes and a key figure in helping grow the squad, encouraging three more young players to come on board.

A hardworking and versatile footballer, Carter never shies away from putting in the effort and is capable of covering multiple positions across the pitch. Whether he's called upon in defence, midfield, or further forward, he always gives 100% for the team.

Off the field, Carter is just as competitive, proudly holding the unofficial title of king of the pool table in the clubrooms 🎱👑

A great example of the next generation of Axes, and we're proud to have him in the black and gold 🖤💛

Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions, we have been informed that tomorrow's match against Waikanae Wanderers has been postponed.

The safety of players and supporters is the priority, and a new date will be communicated once confirmed.

We appreciate everyone's understanding and look forward to seeing our supporters at the next match. 🖤💛
