Some sad news this morning. Rodger Drummond, Si's Dad has passed away.
Rodger has been a keen supporter of Captain Si and the second grade team for a good few years.
He had a tough diagnosis a few months back, but was there to watch his boy in the final and for Si and Krystal's wedding on Saturday.
So here's a picture of Si's Dad, as well as another photo with our new trophy, just because we knew Rodger was bloody proud of his boy.

Finals Day and Prize-giving.

A wet afternoon left the seconds in a tough situation at home. Batting was tough, but Job scored an outstanding 40, supported by Kyle (24) and W***y (19).
The Albion bowlers made things tough for Union early on, but as things got wetter, wickets were tough to find. James and Si took two wickets.
Well done to Union Cricket Club on their Club30 win.

We then headed to the NOCA prize-giving, where Si was presented with the Bookes/Laird trophy for the lads finishing the round robin on top.

Then back to our clubrooms, where we presented our awards. We also remembered J**s, as well as Ravi's Mum. We thanked, among others, Ricky, Albin and Rolls for their work, as well as our captains, Hayden and Si.

Awards were as follows:

Seconds
Batsman: Brad Wheeler (379 runs)
Bowler: Job Varghese (22 wickets)
All-rounder: Job Varghese (22 wickets, 197 runs)

Seniors
Batsman: Sabareesh Ramesh (426 runs)
Bowler: Aneesh Bose (34 wickets)
All-rounder: Aneesh Bose (166 runs, 34 wickets)

The Duck Cup
Three ducks each for Aneesh, Jake and Si

Athlete of the year:
Sabareesh got better and better as the season went on, keeping sometimes, scored heaps of runs, including 115 a few weeks back. And then, with the tracks getting flatter as the season went on, his legspin became very useful. Well done and good luck for whatever your future holds Sabareesh.

Lastly, money makes the world go round. Thanks to our sponsors, who help us out and are great folks as well.

Home final for the seconds!

Good luck to Si and the lads as we host Union in the Club30 final. The boys have already won the Brookes/Laird trophy. Lets get around them as they finish the season strong.

Clubrooms are open after the match. Albion prize-giving will be after NOCA prize-giving, about 8ish. See you all there.

Semifinal Saturday
Seniors were unlucky to lose another toss and bowl first on another good wicket. Wickets for Aneesh and Tom and some outstanding catching from Jikku stood out.
Amal top scored with 41 but the lads fell short, ending their season.

In other news, the seconds are off to the finals!
Losing the toss and bowling first, Si decided that pace off was the plan. Phoebe had the ball on a string again, she and James taking two each, while Job closed it out with three. Brad took two catches, and Phoebe and Job got runouts.
The chase was a lot more challenging than it looked, with Valley bowling well. Albin top scored with 24 and James and W***y held their nerve and closed the show.
See you all at home next week to support the boys in their first final in a long while.

Semifinals week!
Everyone's hard work has come down to this. Thanks to Albin with the money, Ricky with the wicket, Rolls with the juniors, our sponsors and everyone else who has pitched in this season. With the club functioning so well behind the scenes, it makes it easier for our players to get the results.

Creedy and the lads play Oamaru CC again, this time at Oamaru. They've trained bloody well this week and are at full strength, with the return of Constable Amal

Si has named the seconds strongest eleven as well. They also play in a repeat of last weeks important game against Valley Cricket Club. The first team to hold the Brookes/Laird Cup, they go in full of confidence.

Get out in the sunshine everyone and support our teams as they work to make the finals.

Final over thriller at Don Field!
Lily hit a four off the second last ball to put the Albion juniors ahead by three. However, a wicket by Gus from Kurow, meant both teams finished tied on 169. Great game to finish the season.
Thanks to Tony Scrivener and family for the hard work on the barbecue.

Awards for the term:
Best batter: Dristan
Best bowler: Lily
Most improved: Eli
Best coach: Rolls
Best parent help: Christine
Eli and Rowan didn't make the photo, as they are busy being famous actors and Christine had a week off.

And a personal message from Phil:
I know, I've said it before, but this is actually it. No more coaching juniors. I'm looking to support some folk to carry things on next year. Time for some volunteers.
Thanks Rolls, you've been brilliant this term.

We started the season in rough shape as far as money goes. We were also still missing covers for the wicket.
Thankfully, our new secretary Albin Matthew, is some kind of wizard with grant applications. So thanks to:

Waitaki District Council

And all of our sponsorsnew and old:

We're also lucky to have two outstanding blokes looking after our wicket block, who get outstanding results every week, made even better with our sweet new cover.
Thanks Hayden and Rick.
Pictured are some of Albion's finest minds and snappiest dressers, including the legend himself, Albin, having just put on the covers for the first time the other week.

Hi everyone. J**s Thomas was one of the first Indian lads to join our club.
Unfortunately he suffered a heart attack a few weeks ago, and has not been able to pull through.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
There's a Givealittle for his family if anyone is keen to help out.

Fundraising to support J**s Thomas, who is critically ill and to assist his family during this very difficult time.
