NEW SCORING RECORD ‼️

Whilst on tournament, Brodie Gourlay broke the record for most points scored in a single game by a Wairarapa College basketball player. He now takes the title previously held by his brother and former member of the team Clay (52). Brodie had a standout out performance against Garin College, the match in which this record was broken. Along with this, he finished the week averaging more points than any player at the central cup this year (36.83)

Tournament week recap 🏀💙💛

Day 1: Convincing win over Wellington High School, followed by a loss to Naenae College in a very physical game.

Day 2: Day brought two close but won games against Cornerstone Christian School and Garin College. These wins resulted in a three-way tie between us, Wellington High School and Naenae College. But due to points differential, we came out of pool play 2nd in our pool.

Day 3: For the last day of tournament we played Gisborne Boys and had a tough loss. And with our final game, we played Otaki College and won, finishing 7th out of 20 teams.

Overall not the result we had hoped for, but also not a result we can be upset about🤞

Tonight our very own Brodie Gourlay received his cap for 55 games (Manawatu League and tournament fixtures).

This is a significant milestone for our team due to the fact that local league games don't count towards basketball caps, therefore it is quite difficult to reach unless you join the squad before or in year 11. This cap signifies the countless hours and commitment he has put in to ensuring the success of not only himself, but also his teammates. Brodie becomes only the 3rd player to ever receive a cap at Wairarapa College for basketball.

Hoping to redeem ourselves tomorrow night, after getting handed our first local loss in YEARS by Kuranui a few weeks back. While that streak was broken, our 7 year streak of taking the finals remains.Bring ALL your friends down to support so we can make that 8. Nothing like playing with a packed crowd in such a high stakes game. 💙💛🤞
