A message from Humphrey & Fiona O’Leary.
On behalf of the ownership team of Ladies Man, we would like to thank everyone for the incredible support during our roller coaster ride of the last couple of weeks.
As a team we certainly had a lot of fun in Melbourne and enjoyed a great, albeit very hot day, at the Melbourne Cup.
Thank you to our friends and family, including Mark and Jane Corcoran of Grangewilliam, the breeders of Ladies Man, that made the journey across the ditch. Thanks to Andre Neill and Morgan Talamaivao for the behind the scenes work, keeping all updated on the journey, through facebook, the feedback was that everyone very much enjoyed following the team.
To Brent and Kylie Scott along with Bruce the pony - Thank you so much for allowing Emma and Brian to make their base at your beautiful Mornington Stables - we couldn’t have wished for better.
To be in our position on the days prior to the cup was not ideal, leaving us the dreaded 25th order of entry spot - at least 3 rolls of the dice surprisingly just did not go our way. But the experience certainly will lead into a positive momentum for next year for sure.
Since the initial nomination, Brian won the Group 1 Livamol Classic and finished on a high with a great performance in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Flemington. Carrying top weight, he overcame an early check for a thrilling 2nd. and yes there is only “ONE OPIE BOSSON” thank you so much Opie, superb ride again.
Noel and Suzy Stanley stayed over to fly the flag for the team, I’m sure it was an amazing highlight to finish on.
Now saving our biggest thanks for last !!
Allan Sharrock and Emma Davis, what a team - Its no mean feat to come over to Australia for one of the biggest Carnivals of the year, and still have a team to run back home. Saturdays performance shows he was in fantastic form, apparently he was labelled a horse to watch next year by the Aussie Media - so we appreciate all the hard work and expertise from the Sharrock stables and we are already looking forward to the next campaign.
Cheers Fiona and Humphrey O’Leary
