Earlier in 2025 the Whenua Fatales made the difficult decision to close our league. It's now the point at which we say thank you and goodbye to all of the people who contributed in any way over the last 15 years to make our little league shine in the New Zealand derbyverse.
Thank you to the players, officials, friends, family, volunteers, photographers, and many more - thank you to those who travelled from near or far to help with our events. Thank you for your time, your energy, your enthusiasm, your ideas and your efforts into making the Whenua Fatales the little league with a big heart. An extra big mihi goes out to the founding members, who decided that they wanted to do something for themselves and put in the hard mahi to get this amazing league up running.
We hope the Fatales will be remembered for bringing Sur5al to NZ, as well as Derby Sevens and other fun days of derby. We’ll continue to cherish the good times and fun events we either hosted or participated in over the years, such as the nail-biting final at The War of the Wheels tournament in Tauranga, the Fatales' Hot Flashes winning the lower North Island Sevens series, and our participation in the Top Ten Champs to name but a few.
Our best wishes and derby hugs to the other surrounding leagues for the upcoming year and beyond.
