Big news for secondary school rugby in South Taranaki!

We're excited to announce that Te Paepae o Aotea and Southern Rugby Club are partnering to support and grow secondary school rugby in South Taranaki from 2027.

There is incredible rugby talent in South Taranaki and we're creating the opportunity for players who have previously played for other clubs and attended high schools across South Taranaki to be part of this too. This is about giving our rangatahi a consistent, welcoming pathway from junior rugby through high school and into senior club rugby with a strong sense of belonging along the way.

There's plenty still to be worked out, and we'll share more details as they're confirmed. To get things moving, we're looking for volunteers to join a sub-committee. We need help with coaching, gear, fundraising and getting the word out. You don't need rugby experience, just a bit of time and enthusiasm.

Let's build something great for our tamariki and our community!

Congratulations to our Chairman - Lionel Shaw . An outstanding achievement and well deserved for all the time you spend refereeing and upskilling others 🦈

Congratulations to Lionel Shaw on an outstanding 30 years as sideline manager at Stadium Taranaki.
Lionel has also made a huge contribution to the Taranaki Rugby Referees’ Association, including several years on the executive, including a stint as chairman and helping develop referees in South Taranaki.
As a token of our appreciation, we presented Lionel with a plaque to recognise his achievement at our life members and sponsors event before the Taranaki v Hawke's Bay match at The Fitz.
Lionel said he will stand down from the sideline manager role at the end of this year.
Congratulations, Lionel, and thank you for your tremendous service to Taranaki rugby.

Our Junior Players + Committee showing their appreciation for their 2026 Sponsors! 💙💛💚

A huge well done to Brent Espin, our Junior Convenor, and the entire Junior Committee for an incredible year! 👏

Player numbers are up, participation is thriving, and it’s been a fantastic season for our Junior Rugby community.

None of this would be possible without the continued support of our amazing sponsors.

Thank you for backing our juniors and creating opportunities for our young players to grow, develop and enjoy the game. 🏉

We truly appreciate your support! 💙💛💚
