Some really good channels along the North Canterbury beaches currently and they're, ideal spots for finding rig and elephant fish. Often stargazer/monkfish as well.

Get there at low tide, gather some p**i and chuck a crab pot out for fresh bait, fish the channel on the incoming tide.

No need for bait canon's or drones.
