Just a reminder that I am still providing private lessons, at present they are limited to Friday during the day and on Saturday during the school term. You can book regular appointments or just casual ones. Please just message me if you're interested.

Evening West Coast tennis community :)

As you'll be aware, clubs are coming out of hibernation and people are dusting off their racquets, just now need the weather to come to the party.

So just to confirm what some of you already know, I will NOT be coaching at club training days this season. It was a really difficult decision as it was great to see the development of our juniors last year and some new adult players learning the sport.

Ideally I would really like for tennis to be a full-time career on the Coast, like it has been for me elsewhere, however there are a number of reasons why this is unachievable here and I've tried many different initiatives to make it work over the last 10 years since moving here. Some more successful than others!

I now have to prioritise my full time job as a Health Coach at the hospital. Balancing this role and coaching, plus other commitments is too challenging and so this is where my decision to pull back from club coaching has come from.

I will still be offering some regular 1 on 1 lessons from Term 4 if courts are available on one of my days off, and at times I'll be offering extra lesson slots casually to my text group. If you would like to be texted when I offer these lessons please dm me your phone number and I'll add you to the group.

I understand my decision will be disappointing for some, for this I apologise. I believe the clubs are organising junior coaching during the season with a good coach so there is still the ability to learn the sport, it will be great to see the next generation come through as well.

If you’re interested in your child continuing tennis through Term 2, one option is to register interest for private squads. This is suitable for players of all ages who have been attending club programmes this summer.

One job, Vaughan! 🙄 The closing date for Term 2 squads was way off, instead of it being today it was meant to be Thursday next week (24th April). Hopefully this gives people time to find out when their winter sport trainings are and can still find some time for tennis. If you aren't sure yet but are still interested, please put the enrolment in and you can add notes so towards the end of next week I can start putting players together.

Well that was a big day. Results didn’t go our way overall today but everyone has come away with a story to remember. So many great learning moments, and these are often more visible when you’re on the losing side of the net. We will take that info away and come back stronger next year. Super proud of the team, they represented the Coast honourably with fighting spirit and attitude. Rest up troops!

Round 3 - Caspian does it again as our only win with a 5-7, 6-4, 10-7 win, Bessie got close losing in the 3rd set and overall this round the matches were much better contested.
Have started the last round of doubles, all matches are close so far, fingers crossed for a win or two.

Kids enjoyed the doubles, didn’t go our way, nearly won Matthew and Rylan their doubles.
