About Summer Youth Grade
Youth Grade was introduced at North Harbour Hockey to give Year 7–10 students the opportunity to experience senior men’s and women’s 11-a-side club hockey.
The programme has been very successful and highly rated by those who have participated in previous years. It provides a fun and supportive environment where students can develop their skills, build confidence, make new friends, and learn more about full-field hockey.
Players are supported on the turf by experienced senior club players, whose role is to encourage, guide, and teach the younger participants throughout the games.
The programme welcomes boys and girls of all abilities—from complete beginners to experienced school, club, and representative players. Teams are entered into A, B, or C Grade so that every player can participate at a level suited to their experience and ability.
Programme details:
Competition: October to December 2026
Eligible students: Years 7, 8, 9 and 10
Format: Full-field, 11-a-side hockey
Grades: A, B and C to suit different experience levels
Game night: Mondays, usually at 6.00 pm or 7.00 pm
Venues: North Harbour Hockey in Albany and selected local school turfs
Training: Usually Wednesday or Thursday evenings
Season fee: $150, with payment options available
Uniform: Playing tops are provided by the club
Umpires: Provided for all games
Pre-season muster
Our fun pre-season muster will be held on Sunday, 20 September 2026, before lunchtime. The exact time and venue will be confirmed closer to the date.
Players will take part in mini-games, allowing us to place each person in the grade and team best suited to their experience and ability. We will do our best to keep friends and schoolmates together.
