Geraldine Wahine Toa 47 - Rakaia 17

The girls travelled north this week to take on a spirited Rakaia side looking at keeping the semi-finals dreams alive. Although the game was 10-a-side, there was plenty of quality rugby from both sides.

Our girls just had a little too much class, scoring 9 good tries and mixing strike power with an ability to build pressure.

Next week we host Southern in a semi-final at Raukapuka Stadium. Will be awesome to have a big crowd.

After a week off celebrating the kings bday, we’re back into our work for the last week of the combined comp with a game in Rakaia. The girls are keen to finish the round robin on a high after already qualifying for a home semi next week.

Geraldine Wahine Toa 56 - Ashburton Celtic 7

After some changes from last week, the girls turned up on Celtics club day bouncing, wanting to turn last weeks result around. But Celtic came out of the block and after a couple dubious penalties, the home side scored first with a converted try.

After that it was all one way. The girls turned it on to produce 10 tries in a shortened game. So many awesome carries & offloads with quite a few long range efforts.

For the 2nd week in a row we say goodbye to another member of our whanau. Good luck Laura Wilson and you know where we are.

***SOLD OUT*** Wahine Toa Raffle #1

As you aware the girls are fundraising hard. And they have another opportunity. We will be raffling off some home kill over the next few weeks. All meat is frozen.

There will be 2 winners. Each winner will receive a 4 pack of rib eye steaks, a roast joint and a pack of mince.

20 spots at $10 a spot. Winners will be chosen by the lucky when and video recorded and posted in this chat.

Geraldine Wahine Toa 17 - Pleasant Point 22

2 unbeaten teams battled out on Geraldine Rugbys club day in a top of table clash. Point dominated the early exchanges pinning the girls inside their 22. Our girls kept them at bay time and time again, even forcing them to take a shot a goal. Eventually Point scored the first try. The girls then started to build pressure in points half but couldn’t capitalise on their opportunities. Point scored before half-time to take 10-0 lead.

Geraldine girls came out in the second half and again built pressure in the Point half. Eventually Amelia got over the line. And again as we started building pressure we suffered a yellow card and Point took their chances with us being one down scoring 2 tries to take a 22-5 lead. As like all season, we showed the grit and determination to fight to the final whistle. Char scored and converted to keep the game alive. Laura almost crossed but Hannah scored in the last play of the game to secure a losing bonus point.

We say goodbye to Amelia, who is moving up to Nelson. Hopefully we may still see her in a red & black jersey again this season.
