For the 2027 NZ Ultramarathon Festival, the choice is yours when it comes to accommodation.

Stay on site in one of our tents, bring your own setup, or choose to stay off site for a little extra comfort.

For some, a proper bed and a real shower - those little reminders of home - might just be the ticket to success come race day.

If you choose to stay off site, please remember you’ll need to sign out when leaving and sign back in upon your return.

Samira is a standout athlete and a true queen of endurance sport.

She joined us at the NZ Ultra Marathon Festival in 2025 for the 24-hour event and immediately impressed with her strength, composure, and natural ability for ultra-distance racing.

At the time, she had no idea 24-hour championship racing even existed - a reminder of the many opportunities available to athletes beyond what they first see.

We encouraged her to explore the international 24-hour scene, and she has since gone on to represent at the Asian & Oceanian 24 Hour Championships in Japan.

This is what it’s about - opening eyes to what’s possible and connecting athletes with pathways to represent their country if they choose to pursue them.

Night at Hagley Park has its own feeling.

Floodlit paths, flags guiding the loop, runners moving through the park under moonlight. A light fog settles over the grass. The city sits quiet around us, traffic noise fading into the distance.

There’s something peaceful about it - running when the world slows down, when it’s just footsteps, breath, and the rhythm of the loop.

In the stillness of the night, running becomes something different.
Calmer. More focused. Almost meditative.

This is Steve at Hagley Park in the 12 Hour, part of this year’s NZ Ultramarathon Festival.

Fresh from representing New Zealand at the 24 Hour Asia Oceania Championships, his journey reflects something we value deeply - that the pathway in ultra running often starts on a simple loop, at your local event.

The NZ Ultramarathon Festival is proud to showcase timed ultras. NZ have a rich history in this format, and it’s seeing a real resurgence again.

From 3 hours through to multi-day events up to 10 days, the format is inclusive, supportive, and accessible at every level.

3 HOUR ULTRA – HAGLEY PARK

Our trophy design is a koru, inspired by the unfurling fern. It represents growth, movement, and new beginnings - fitting for a format where every lap is part of the journey, not just the finish.

The event is run on a 1.9 km loop, and the circular design of the koru reflects exactly that: continuous movement, returning again and again to the same path, building effort lap by lap.

If you’ve never tried a timed event before, the 3 hour format is a great place to start. No pressure on distance - just see what you can do in the time.
