🦅 3 FROM 3 FOR THE EAGLES TODAY! 🦅

What a day for our Eastern Eagles, with our Senior teams going a perfect 3 from 3!

✅ 1st Division
✅ Reserves
✅ Premiers

Brothers had to dig deep, playing a bit of catch-up footy throughout the day. It wasn't always pretty, but it showed the heart, resilience, and determination that Eagles teams are built on. The boys never gave up, stuck to the grind.

A special mention must go to the growing list of father-son combinations proudly pulling on the Eagles jersey together. A couple years back we had the Siaki whānau with Deidre and Niko, and the Saukuru whānau with Sai and Noah.

Today we added another special chapter to that story, with long-time Eastern Eagles veteran Jaejae Smith lining up alongside his son Izzy Smith in the Premiers' clash against Riccarton Knights.

To make the moment even sweeter, Izzy marked his Premiers debut by crossing for a try in the Eagles victory! A memory that both father and son will cherish forever, and a proud moment for the entire Eagles whānau.

Days like today remind us that our club is about more than just wins and losses. It's about generations of families, friendships, and community coming together through rugby league.

Congratulations to all three teams on their victories and to the Smith whānau on a day they'll never forget.

❤️🖤 Up the Eagles! 🦅

Terongomaianiwaniwa played for our woman’s last season and has worked hard over in Sydney to get to where she is now.

You’re an inspiration to our young Kōtiro within our club and wish you well for the remainder of your season.

Show some love to our 13’s Tama who will be down at Ngā Puna Wai today.

Sorry team, we forgot to grab photos this week! 📸🤦🏽‍♀️

What an absolute cracker of a game on Club Day against the Papanui Tigers!

🏉 Final Score:

The crowd was treated to a high-scoring, entertaining match with both teams playing some exciting footy. Our Eagles showed plenty of determination, teamwork, and confidence, continuing the growth we've seen all season.

2026 Round 5 U15 Tama

Our U15 boys took on a strong Panthers side this weekend, going down 42-6.

Despite the scoreline, the boys showed plenty of heart and determination. We played the entire second half with no bench and even finished parts of the game with just 12 players on the field. The effort and resilience shown by the team never wavered.

The growth and improvement from this group continues to show week by week, and we're proud of the way they kept battling until the final whistle.

🏅 Player of the Day: Zyon Faimalo
💥 Tackler of the Day: Mikaere Haehae

Keep working hard, boys. The results will come. 🦅❤️🤍

2026 Round 4 Kotiro 13

Our Kotiro's delivered another strong performance, especially those trying new positions! Our line speed was better, and our defense was solid. We really focused on off-the-ball work too. Overall, another great outing for Eastern Eagles 13's Kotiro

(Eagle Of The Day)
🦅 Lexi Rangi-Hogan
Controlled her set piece well, very dominant in all contact areas. Lexi is one of our experienced players and tonight she really demonstrated what "we know" she is capable of 🫡

(Eagle Of The Day)
🦅 Waikaramu Rangi-Te Rito
One of our youngest players in the team she is definitely not shy mixing it with the older girls. Played 2 new positions tonight and absolutely smashed it. 🫡
(Eagle Of The Day)

🦅 Porscha Mariah Riritahi
She maybe new to Rugby League but that hasn't stopped her from chipping away at learning her craft. Another one who has capabilities of playing multiple positions. Our Mr Fix it 🫡

2026 Round 5 U13's White Tama

Apologies for the late comms — and unfortunately no team photo this week! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Our boys took on the Linwood Keas and put together a strong team performance, coming away with a convincing 40-4 victory. The effort, attitude, and teamwork shown across the park was outstanding, with everyone doing their job and contributing to the result.

🏅 Eagle of the Day: Brooklyn Upton
Awarded for his continuous effort and growth on the field, along with some outstanding carries throughout the game.

💥 Tackler of the Day: Jedi Vakaboro
For taking care of the opposition's biggest threats and protecting his pods when it mattered most. A tough defensive performance.

A massive effort from all the boys. Keep building, keep improving, and keep flying high! ❤️🤍🦅

Final Score:
🦅 Eastern Eagles 40
🦅 Linwood Keas 4

2026 Round 5 Kōtiro 13's

Our Eastern Eagles 13's Kotiro had a super physical outing today! So glad we achieved what we set out to do. Plenty to work on for next week, but that's what keeps us going! Super proud of our girls for not giving up!
"Tackler Of The Day" 🦅Blue Stowers

Never shys away from contact. Always pushing up and shutting down attacking threats down her edge. Defensively worked overtime 🫡
"Eagle Of The Day" 🦅Liahona Morgan-Chard

Controlled her set piece and edge well, but was more of a threat when running the ball. Scored two tries, also very handy goal kicker. 🫡
"Eagle Of The Day" 🦅Ani Manu-Asi

Her overall game has improved, she kept her composure and was involved in the majority of the tackles down her edge. She led the team well 🫡

2026 Round 5 U18 Tama

Talofa team,

Our U18 boys took on our neighbours, the Linwood Keas, on Monday night in a massive clash. With both teams locked in 4th place on the ladder and only three rounds remaining, there was plenty on the line.

The game turned into a high-scoring thriller, with both sides crossing for some outstanding tries throughout the night. With just five minutes left on the clock, the Keas held a 10-point lead, but our boys refused to give in. Showing grit, belief, and determination, they scored two late tries, including one on the very last play of the game.

With the pressure on, Xavier Saumanaia stepped up and calmly slotted the sideline conversion to seal an incredible comeback victory for the Eagles! 🔥🦅

Final Score
🦅 Eastern Eagles 46
🦅 Linwood Keas 44

⭐ 3 Points (Player of the Day) – AJ Esela (6)
Set up several quality tries and led the team around the park with strong carries from halfback.

⭐ 2 Points – Mikey White (4)
Powerful carries and solid defence all game.

⭐ 1 Point – Jahvani Sila (2)
Outstanding cover defence and tough carries coming out of our own end.

A huge effort from the whole squad to dig deep and never give up. That's the kind of character that wins football games. Proud of the boys! ❤️🤍🦅
