Here is a great funding opportunity for Schools and Community Organisations wanting to get some sports events happening.

🎉 The Play Activation Fund 2026 is now open 🎉

This fund supports tamariki-led play and physical activity projects that promote wellbeing for tamariki aged 5–12 across Waitaha Canterbury and Te Tai Poutini West Coast.

Community organisations and schools can apply for up to $750, with projects designed, delivered, and evaluated alongside tamariki.

Applications close 19 May.

EOI for the Youth Futsal Tournament that will be held in Christchurch this year from 14 to 17 Dec! Apply now 🔥

We are excited to share that Mainland Football will be represented by six teams at the 2026 NZF Futsal Youth Futsal Championships. The tournament is being held right here in Christchurch at the Parakiore Recreation Centre from Monday 14 to Thursday 17 December 2026.

Shingo Heads to China with the Futsal Ferns 🇳🇿⚽

Today, Shingo departs for Lingwu, China, alongside the Ford Futsal Ferns for an exciting international tour, where the team will face off against the Chinese National Team.

From Gosal Futsal Academy, we’re incredibly proud to have Hannah Hegarty, Britney-Lee Nicholson and our newest member Molly Judd representing on this stage.

A special moment for Molly, who will be making her debut for the Futsal Ferns. Shingo has been coaching her since his Wellington days, first working with her when she was just 11 years old. To now see her step onto the international stage is something truly special.

We wish Molly all the best for her debut and can’t wait to follow her journey, along with the rest of the team, over in China.

Rangiora High School - Canterbury Futsal Champions 🥇⚽️

Big congratulations and achievements from Rangiora High School for taking home the Canterbury Futsal Champions Trophy. Back to back winners and remain undefeated is a statement of their hard work and dedication to futsal.

From Gosal we had Isla, Holly, Natalie and Samantha. As their coach I am very proud of you all, you’ve been great to coach and work with. Learning so many new skills and techniques that put you all forward in the game. Big pat on the back to you all and you will inspire the younger generation of players in Canterbury.

All the best as you take on the New Zealand Secondary Schools Futsal Championships in Wellington. We will be following how you progress in the competition.

In 2026, Shingo continues his coaching work with Christchurch schools:

⚽️ Christchurch Boys’ High School
⚽️ Ao Tawhiti .tawhiti.unlimited.discovery

Having started working with these schools last year, Shingo recently led the teams at the Mainland Futsal Regionals, where they achieved some great results:
🥈 Ao Tawhiti Senior 2nd place
🥉 Christchurch Boys’ High Senior Boys 3rd place
⚽ Rangi Ruru Senior Girls 5th place

Next up, the Rangi Ruru Senior and Ao Tawhiti will be traveling to Wellington for the New Zealand Secondary School Futsal Championship at the end of March🇳🇿

Through ongoing training and development, Shingo continues to support these teams and help grow the next generation of futsal players in Canterbury.
