Christchurch City Council is urging residents to be careful after discovering fraudulent parking stickers directing customers to false payment websites.

The stickers were reported this morning with QR codes placed on some parking machines across the city, including machines from the Council as well as other parking providers.

In each case, the meter screens had also been vandalised with permanent marker to prevent customers from using the machine and instead encourage them to scan the fraudulent QR code to make payment.

If you believe you, or someone you know, may have used the fraudulent website or entered bank card details, please contact your bank, the Police, and phone the Council’s Contact Centre on 03 941 8999 to advise the location of the fraudulent sticker.

The Council is working with Police and other parking providers to ensure the stickers are recognised and removed as soon as possible.

✨ Ngā mihi nui | Celebrating 5 Years of Nimaan A Humble Voice ✨

Under the beautiful guidance of Matariki, we came together to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Nimaan A Humble Voice Charitable Trust. 🌟

Matariki is a time of remembrance, gratitude, reflection, and looking forward with hope. It reminds us to honour the journeys that have shaped us, acknowledge the people who walk alongside us, and nurture the aspirations that guide our future.

Our celebration was filled with warmth, connection, storytelling, and whakawhanaungatanga. We were deeply humbled by the courage and openness of our attendees who shared their personal journeys, challenges, learnings, and moments of growth. Your reflections reminded us of the strength within every individual and the power of sharing our stories with others. ❤️

A heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers- Gomathi, Amit Raut, and Maxban who gave their time, energy, and care to make our kaupapa come alive. Your commitment, humility, and manaakitanga are at the heart of Nimaan A Humble Voice.

To everyone who joined us, shared your kōrero, celebrated with us, and contributed to the spirit of the day, thank you. Your presence made this milestone truly meaningful.

As we look ahead, we carry forward the lessons of Matariki: remembering our past, celebrating our present, and planting seeds of hope for the future.

Scammers are impersonating police officers by phone and email, claiming cryptocurrency assets are at risk and directing victims to fake websites designed to steal funds.

⚠️ Some emails may appear to come from legitimate police accounts.

⚠️ Scammers may know personal information about you.

If in doubt:
✅ Ask for the officer's name and ID number

✅ Hang up and call 105 to verify

❌ Never share your recovery/seed phrase

❌ Never enter it into a website
