I posted this on my story recently but I wanted to share with you a bit more about it and the significance it has for me.
The video is of me jump 93cm at a bodyweight of 106cm, I’m super pumped about it for many reasons.
- it’s a lifetime personal best
- it’s proving that my training is helping me to improve
- it shows that even though I’m getting older I can still reach for new heights and challenge myself to do things I thought may have escaped me with time.
As an older former professional athlete many of us think that those were the glory days and it’s all downhill from there. This video for me anyway proves that it’s not the case. My previous best was 91cm back many years ago while competing in cycling, since then I have done powerlifting and ultramarathon running in a quest to find my limits. With returning to the gym and focussing on developing the parts of my athleticism that were lacking I have been able to surpass my younger self’s best and set a new standard and with that new goals.
What this boils down to is that with the correct approach to training and a bit determination you reach for more and challenge yourself to try new things and not accept that the way you are now is as good as you’ll be. Whether that’s in the gym, your diet, work life balance, sleep, relationships.
Confidence does not come from personality, it comes proof BE UNDENIABLE!!
