One more shout-out: our judges' choice for best Bupa NZ Healthy Cities Challenge story goes to Vyom Gowda and their parent Vilas Shivakumar.

Today I went on a very special bike ride with my family! ๐Ÿฅฐ

I took my balance bike to the Whau Whฤnau Ride and had so much fun riding with lots of other kids. ๐Ÿšฒ๐Ÿ›ดโœจ

I rode on the cycle path, went over the bridge and explored along the way. And thenโ€ฆ ๐Ÿš† WOW! A train went past right next to us! I was so excited! ๐Ÿ˜

There were lots of bikes, scooters, smiles and happy people everywhere. I loved riding with everyone and having my own little adventure. ๐Ÿ’™

Thank you to everyone who organised the ride and made it such a fun morning!

By the end, my little legs were very tired! ๐Ÿ˜ด But guess what? I got a warm hot chocolate with fluffy marshmallows! โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‹ I drank it all up and even got a funny chocolate moustache! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿซ

I canโ€™t wait for my next bike adventure! ๐Ÿšฒ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’™

Congratulations to our Bupa NZ Healthy Cities Challenge runner-up!

Jingwen Shi takes home a $150 Bodega Cafรฉ voucher โ€” as a thank-you for getting out on the Flat White Ride and being part of the Challenge.

The Bupa Healthy Cities Challenge grand prize winner isโ€ฆ Lucy Ruck!

Lucy entered by cycling the Te Whau Pathwayโ€” and theirentry took the top spot, winning a $3000 Storm Rides e-scooter package.

"I was guiding a group ride and wanted to make sure we didn't take any wrong turns along the pathway sections! So with a zip lock bag and rubber bands I fashioned a map holder on my bike ๐Ÿ˜ This is at Avondale train station waiting to go home after a successful and fun ride."

Huge thanks to Bupa NZ, the Waitฤkere Ranges Local Board, and the Whau Local Board for making this prize โ€” and the whole Challenge โ€” possible.

And to everyone who got out on the Flat White Ride this September: every single entry helped plant a native tree right here in West Auckland.

What a morning! ๐Ÿšฒ๐Ÿ’›

On Sunday 27 September, 13 families and their littlest riders joined us for the Whau Whฤnau Ride โ€” a slow, easy pootle around Olympic Park Playground and along the shared path to Chalmers Reserve, with a well-earned stop for free hot chocolates, fluffies and coffee at Daily Bread to finish.

It was such a lovely way to get tamariki out on their bikes, scooters and balance bikes, and a sweet little taste of what the Flat White Ride is all about โ€” connecting great rides with great coffee stops across West Auckland. We loved seeing you all out there.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a fun morning, and to the Bike Hub New Lynn team for being on hand nearby for any last-minute bike checks!

What an incredible achievement! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿšด

Congratulations to our very own Rudy, who's just completed the Business Blueprint Home to Home Ride 2026 โ€” five days, 500km, from PAMA House in Chanthaburi to Home Hug in Yasothon, all in support of Hands Across the Water.

We loved following along as Rudy took on this challenge for such a good cause, raising funds to help give children opportunities, support, and a brighter future. Through sunshine and rain, sore legs and big laughs, what an adventure! ๐Ÿงก

School holidays are here โ€” why not spend them exploring a new way to get around as a family?

Meet Michael van Staveren and his family, who recently trialled one of our Yuba cargo bikes through Go Ebike Loans and by the end of the two weeks, were completely hooked!

Michael got in touch to say a huge thank you for the opportunity to trial the Yuba again, sharing that the experience gave his family a real taste of the cargo bike lifestyle and what these bikes are truly capable of as part of their day-to-day routine.

In Michael's words: "It really is wonderful to have a scheme like this that allows families to trial an ebike properly and see how it fits in with their daily lives before making a purchase."
