Junior Black Sox Squad Named 🇳🇿🌿

Softball New Zealand is pleased to announce the Junior Black Sox squad as preparations continue towards the WBSC U18 Men’s Softball World Cup Oceania Qualifier, to be held in Manawatū over ANZAC weekend this April 2026.

Selection into the Junior Black Sox programme is a significant achievement and recognises the commitment and performance shown by each athlete. The squad will now enter the next phase of preparation as they work towards representing Aotearoa on the international stage.

Hosting the Oceania Qualifier on home soil provides an exciting opportunity for the team as they compete against the region’s best in pursuit of qualification for the WBSC World Cup.

Congratulations to all selected athletes. Further updates will be shared as preparations progress.

How good congratulations Liam Potts 💪🏽

The World Baseball Softball Confederation revealed the Annual WBSC Softball Award Winners at their Congressional this past weekend - and we’ve got reason to celebrate! Liam Potts was awarded 2025 Softball Player of the Year🙌

This prestigious honour is awarded to the best overall player in a WBSC competition and follows Liam’s outstanding performance at the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup with the New Zealand Black Sox . He now joins an elite group of past recipients including Yukiko Ueno 🇯🇵, Sean Cleary 🇨🇦, Jessica Moore 🇺🇸 and Nathan Nukunuku 🇳🇿.

Congratulations Liam on such an amazing achievement.
We wish you and the NZ Major Sox good luck and good skills this season as you prepare for the WBSC U23 Softball World Cup in April 2026.
