📣 We're on the hunt for TWO new board members!

Help lead WISPA into its next chapter - including our 10-year anniversary in March 2027🎉

This is a working board: Our members govern and get stuck in.

We're especially keen to hear from people with finance, board chair or governance-leadership experience (our board elects its Chair and Deputy Chair from among its members after the AGM), and we'd love strengths in areas like fundraising, legal, and networks across the sport, government and community sectors. Most of all, we're looking for people who share our commitment to gender equity and to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Open to people of all genders. Know someone perfect? Tag them below💜

💜Ngā Wāhine Hākinakina o Aotearoa, Women in Sport Aotearoa (WISPA), in partnership with InsideOUT Kōaro and with funding from the Clare Foundation, is excited to launch the Transgender Inclusion in Community Sport Toolkit – a practical, evidence-based resource to help sports organisations across Aotearoa create welcoming spaces for transgender, non-binary and gender diverse people.💜

The Toolkit is a free resource for national, regional and local sports organisations, clubs, teams and competitions.

It was codesigned by WISPA and InsideOUT Kōaro, drawing on research, lived experience and case studies from the Aotearoa sport sector.

Its purpose is simple – to help clubs and organisations take a practical, inclusive approach so that everyone, regardless of gender, can take part in and benefit from community sport.

✨"As Matariki invites us to reflect on the past, celebrate the present and look towards the future, there’s one question worth asking ourselves: What kind of tīpuna do we want to be remembered as?"✨

WISPA Board member Vanessa Mill (Ngāti Porou, Ngāpuhi), reflects on what she has learnt sharing, teaching, learning and, most importantly, playing Taonga Tākaro – traditional Māori games – with thousands of people across Aotearoa. The revitalisation of Taonga Tākaro led by wāhine Māori offers a blueprint to reshape inclusive leadership in sport and challenge our obsession with winning.

💗WHERE TO WATCH WOMEN'S SPORT THIS WEEK!💜

The spotlight is on netball and football this week, with Round 9 of the ANZ Premiership and the Football Ferns playing two friendlies.

Make sure you check out what's coming up - next week we have Super Rugby Aupiki, the T20 Cricket World Cup, FIH Nations Cup for hockey, plus the crunchy end of the ANZ Premiership!

Plus, while you're here, we're looking for WISPA Sport Spotters! We think visibility of women's sport matters, but we need a hand keeping across everything!

So we’re putting together a small, informal WhatsApp group of people who follow women’s sport closely and want to help make sure great things happening around the country don’t fly under the radar.

There’s no formal commitment - just a space to share things you come across that may be worth elevating through WISPA channels.

If you're interested, DM us or email [email protected] and we'll add you to the group!
