The Hurunui District has its very own BMX track! The North Canterbury Drainage BMX track is an entry level track and was officially opened to the public in May 2016 and is open 24/7. You do not need to pay to use it, just ride it and look after it. Built for the community by the community has been the club's philosophy. Trainings are Wednesday nights between 5pm-6pm, in Terms One and Four. Past an
d new members of any age are welcome and you can just turn up on the night. Cancellations will be posted on our page. What you will need- a safe working bike (balance bikes, pedal and mountain bikes), helmet, long sleeve pants and top, gloves (can be garden or woolen) and covered shoes. These rules are in place to protect users, as we all know BMX track surfaces are sore when you land on them! We encourage families and children to use the track, but take no responsibility for injuries. Unsupervised children/young people using the track, do so at their caregivers discretion. The BMX track is located in the Amberley Domain on Lawcocks Road. The Hurunui BMX Club was established in December 2014 and has successfully raised the funds needed to build a quality BMX track for all to use. We want to see young people challenged and stimulated and participating in what is now a world class sport. Feel free to contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions!
