Bikepacking highlights in the footsteps of Vikings!
We went Rune- stone searching in Uppland, Sweden, for a week. In this area alone some 1.300 stones have been found. For the nerd- record, we did not see them all…
Some runes are gloriously boastful and others tell of misfortunes and loss. The 1.000 year old Instagram of Vikings so to say😉

Badlands!

Just started to grasp that together with 70 women from all over the world, we have completed the Komoot Women’s Badlands Rally !!
The route of 680 km and vertical +12.300 m starts in Granada and finishes in Almería, Spain. It’s wild, remote and stunningly beautiful

Hosted by ambassador and ultra- endurance rider and racer and , it’s an adventure cycling event that aims to connect, unite and break down barriers in adventure cycling by making adventure by bike more accessible to women of all backgrounds.

I found it amazingly fun even though I first thought that I could never do it. Climb +10.000 m in a week on gravel with a loaded bike in deserts? It’s empowering to find out what we can do, together and by ourselves.

If I was asked if I would do it again? Y E S !!

What adventures do you dream of doing?

Jenny and I set out to cycle between the two existing deserts in Europe, the Gorafe and Tabernas deserts, crossing the mighty nature reserves Sierra de Baza and Sierra de Filabres in southern Spain.

Nature here is mesmerizingly beautiful with merciless climbs.

We took our time climbing, sang all the hard rock songs we know (no one for miles to hear us anyway) and laughed our hearts out. Possibly, this is as good as it gets🤘

In dust I trust. Waxing the chain and crossing the Gorafe desert.

Scouting for a multiple day, gravelish tour through the only 2 existing European deserts. The wild and beautiful Gorafe and Tabernas deserts in southern Spain.

Time to ride into the (mid)night

Eventhough Im born in the North, the midnight sun suddenly hits me by surprise every June. It’s sort of darkish about 3 hours here at the moment.

The golden hour is around 9 pm when the sun is low and it makes the surroundings glow golden.

You have to experience it to believe it… and then sleep with your shades on!

Adventure for some. Everyday life for others.

I had womanned myself up to a 3 day bikepacking trip choosing a route I had not ventured before in the vast forest reserve north of Oslo.

I felt cool enough to have my picture taken upon departure.

After a couple of hours of gravel and trail I realize Im not alone. Someone was closing in on me.

As it turns out, it is a lady catching up with me.
Sharing the trail for some kilometers or so, she tells me she is on her way home from work. A nurse taking the long route home after her shift!

Everyday life for her. For me the adventure had just begun.

Time to dust off some of the bikepacking-gear and plan for summer?

A favourite bag of mine for long adventures is the downtube bag. It collects a lot of dust but wow can it hold a lot!
Kitchen, gas, 2 mugs, lighters and matches, waterfilter and clothes line. And still some space left for the breakfast oatmeal.
Pack in, pack out. Easy!

… now where should we go next?

I guess, If you fill in all the answers, the adventure ceases to exist…

The well had frozen, so there was no other way but to melt some snow to get a cuppa.

Turned out it was the best brew around😉

Well hello sunshine!

You know, it feels so good to be caressed by the sunrays finally reaching above the treeline.
The coffee thermos making a long shadow as proof of the light coming back. Balm for the soul.

Towards brighter times?

I hope we all are on our way towards a brighter year! Welcome 2022!

Last years resolution was that I wanted to show atleast 10 people the great outdoors. Not sure I did. But I hope I could atleast inspire someone to get some fresh air.

My 2022 resolution is that I will talk to anybody.
That is If I meet someone out there and don’t scare the sheeet out of them first. Looking like a thug in the dark🥷🏻 trying not to freeze my face off.

Happy International Mountain day folks!

Imagine if our planet was flat. Then we wouldn’t have places like this one to enjoy.

We reached this camp just before sunset in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Dinner and sleep with a view!
