1 400km and 15 000 m of climbing in 6 days.

This is the route I used during a little vacation trip this week.
I have been hunting for the nicest roads of the southwest part of Norway with a simple start from Oslo. A « mini » dream that has been growing in me over the last years while struggling to find the time for it. A simple will of roaming freely with the minimum equipment. Pretty much biking every day. Enjoying. Looking at the nature, eating, cycling, and sleeping nothing else. If you really want stuff to happen you have to make it a priority otherwise it gets lost in the void of our too-busy life. 🙂 I am very happy I finally went for it. It has been 95% of pure pleasure, 05% of « happy suffering», a fair deal if you ask me😅. Thanks, Antoine Berthoud for having been a part of it! Always good to spend time with a good old friend outside 💚.

Ultra-Cycling is quite similar to Ultra-Running but I needed to gain specific experience for The Bright Midnight bike race 🙂 I learned a lot with this trip so I feel ready to tackle this 1100km bike adventure race in a month here in Norway.

What about running?
Well, my knee is still getting slowly from surgery but ACL recovery is just super long 🤯. So I am just keeping myself occupied with those bike projects. Not bad 😎. When I will be 100% back at running I will for sure ride more, and do few of those races/projects still! Traveling with your legs is an incredible feeling. (You don’t need to do 300/ days to enjoy it no worries).
To the next one ☝️ 🚴‍♂️💨

Very hard to not be running as much as I would like to this spring! I broke my ACL when I was 14 years old but I realized it only 3 years ago. Now, I will have to go through surgery to repair both ACL and meniscus for hopefully a brilliant 2nd part of my life as “someone who like to be outside and to run far”. It is hard but as all obstacles in life s**t happens and you have to keep moving forward 🖤. So 2023 will be the year of the deconstruction and reconstruction both mentally and physically.

Running down Åndalsnes after a good day out! [sept 22].
Signing up for 90km in June is I think (and hope) a good way to utilize winter skimo training to perform well on a mountain race! The ski season usually ends in May here and I will start increasing running soon so I am ready for good running training by mid-April. Also, the very bad snow quality we actually having is encouraging me spending more time on the shoes! I do not know what works best for me but I am testing something new this year with training!norwayenergy

A year of change (again) with a move to beautiful Romsdalen, Norway (from Oslo), renewed by living surrounded by mountains since I moved away from Annecy, France. I also started a new job there with the very cool headlamp and ski company Moonlight. After everything, I am personally proud to still put together around 750 hours of training this year with a full time+ work (and a girlfriend… 😀). There is nothing to brag about but not every hour was easy, especially up north in the winter and I am just happy signing off my second biggest year of training (after 2019) :)!

Moving to this new place definitely reconnected me with backcountry skiing where skimo replaced the gravel bike and XC training I was used to doing in Oslo. It increased the total vertical gain and encouraged run/bike commuting, adding some more hours.
I also have to mentioned the amazing wild nature there that allows me to also reconnect with one of the biggest passion I ever had: fly fishing! Very thankful for healthy fjord and rivers hosting beautiful salmons ans cods. Perfect activity to take a break from everyday life!

Races / highlights:
February: 10h skimo for fun after 3years without any serious ski training (7500m)
Mai: 50km, 1st
June: 100km, 1st
July: - GTWS 22km, 34th
August: 100km, 24th
November: : 165km, DNF

Big thank you from the best partners I could hope for .norway and .energy . Providing premium equipment and nutrition that are fueling my big and small adventures :)!

In 2023 I want to put in more hours & more vert with big days out that will help me to progress in mountain races. I think the 90km of in Chamonix in June will be my main objective. There won’t be any UTMB race for me this year, so I can do something else after having participated the last 4 editions! I would also like to try another 100 Mile race.

Thank you all my friends who have been a part of this 2022 year in sport 🥰.
See you soon!
