Consistent Emotional Presence
This is something everyone desires from their parents, their partners, their work colleagues, their friends, their boss etc
We all crave stable, compassionate, nurturing, consistent emotional reactions that make us feel safe.
Knowing that you can go to someone with a problem, a mistake or a confession and be seen, heard and treated fairly, without blame, shame or an explosion, takes a huge weight of stress and anxiety out of the situation.
This is the same for children too and in particular, children who are sensitive to others' energy, loudness, and influence. Children especially need this for their healthy development.
If you find yourself unable to stay calm and be the emotional regulator when your children are kicking off, pushing all your buttons and testing your limits....often... then something needs to change before the connection between you and your child gets lost.
