A few more shots from the opening round of the FIM Flat Track World Championship in Roden! 💥

The weeks leading up to Roden were far from ideal. We had just moved house a couple of weeks before, and on Monday I went to HVG Engineering. The simple conclusion was that the generator on the 450 was broken, which explained why the bike had been holding back. Thanks to , we were able to use a working generator and get the bike ready again.

At the same time, everything had to be prepared for the Slide School press day on Wednesday, just a few days before the race. Thanks to fixing my spare steel wheel just in time, which I used for the FIM race.

Over the past months I had barely been in the gym, because between normal work, FTA, the Slide School and everything around it, there was not much time or mental and physical energy left. That is all part of building something, but at this level you also feel what you have missed yourself.

Still, I am glad I was there. The pace was good in the heats, I had some good battles with the international riders around me, and I got to race the first ever FIM Flat Track World Championship round in the Netherlands.

Before the final we also changed the gearing, trying to find a bit more, but it did not work out the way we hoped. The final did not go the way I wanted, but it also gave me a clear direction: time to rebuild and back to the gym, back to routine, and keep working on the next step.

🇳🇱 Gisteren reed ik de openingsronde van het 2026 FIM Flat Track Wereldkampioenschap bij Speed Centre Roden. Het was de eerste keer dat Nederland een ronde van het WK organiseerde. We hebben hier lang op gewacht, dus het was mooi om daar zelf aan de start te staan!

Het tempo zat er in de training goed in met een 6e rondetijd. Gedurende de heats wist ik sterke resultaten neer te zetten: een heatoverwinning in mijn eerste heat, een 5e plaats in mijn tweede heat, een 2e plaats in mijn derde heat en later nog een belangrijke 3e plaats vanaf de penalty rij. Daarmee had ik genoeg punten om mij te plaatsen voor de finale.

De finale liep helaas niet zoals ik had gehoopt. Ik had de aansluiting met de groep, maar kon dit helaas niet vasthouden. Uiteindelijk ben ik als 10e geëindigd.

Al met al een solide dag. Bedankt aan iedereen die heeft geholpen, gesteund of aangemoedigd! 🤟🏻

🇬🇧 Yesterday I raced the opening round of the 2026 FIM Flat Track World Championship at Speed Centre Roden. It was the first time the Netherlands hosted a round of the World Championship. We had been waiting for this for a long time, so it was great to be part of it!

The pace was there in practice with a 6th lap time. Throughout the heats, I was able to build some strong results: a heat win in my first heat, 5th place in my second heat, 2nd place in my third heat, and later an important 3rd place from the penalty line. That gave me enough points to qualify for the Final.

The final did not go the way I had hoped. I had the connection with the group, but unfortunately could not hold on to it. In the end, I finished 10th.

Overall, a solid day. Thanks to everyone who helped, supported or cheered me on! 🤟🏻

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐈𝐌 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐧!🔥

🇳🇱 De afgelopen race in Roden tijdens de 𝐃𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐂𝐮𝐩 was een goede voorbereiding, met mooie gevechten en al meerdere WK-rijders aan de start. Helaas hield de motor na de eerste heat in, waardoor we er niet alles uit konden halen. Nu ligt de focus op het goed krijgen van de motor, zodat we op 𝟗 𝐦𝐞𝐢 met een sterke en betrouwbare setup aan de start staan.

Op zaterdag 9 mei mag ik bij starten met een wildcard voor het 𝐅𝐈𝐌 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐖𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐤𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐩. Rijden op dit niveau is altijd bijzonder, maar onderdeel zijn van de eerste FIM Flat Track race op Nederlandse bodem maakt het extra speciaal.

Een mooie kans en een grote uitdaging! 💥

Trots om Nederland te vertegenwoordigen samen met twee andere wildcard-rijders en één reserverijder, en om flat track in Nederland verder op de kaart te zetten.

🇬🇧 The last race at Roden during the Dutch Flat Track 𝐂𝐮𝐩 was a good preparation, with close battles and already several World Championship riders on the grid. Unfortunately, the bike started holding back after the first heat, so we could not get everything out of it.Now the focus is on getting the bike running properly, so we can line up on 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟗 with a strong and reliable setup.

On Saturday, May 9 I will be racing with a wildcard for the FIM Flat Track World Championship. Racing at this level is always special, but being part of the first FIM Flat Track race on Dutch soil makes it even more meaningful.

A great opportunity and a big challenge!💥

Proud to represent the Netherlands together with two other wildcard riders and one reserve rider, and to help put flat track even more on the map in the Netherlands.
