Hi ik ben Carly! De oprichter van Damoves, de dansschool die ik in 2007 ben begonnen. Het runnen van je eigen business is een circus.
En laat dat nou ook net mijn favoriete thema zijn, alle kids hebben het al eens gedanst, en weten wat ik bedoel. 🎪

Het runnen van mijn dansschool combineer ik met moeder zijn van Coco (9) en Juul (13), ze hebben allebei bij ons gedanst.
De oefeningen uit de les heb ik thuis op hen getest. Ik moet zeggen, lesgeven aan je eigen kind is het beste dat je kan overkomen. M’n liefde voor dans delen met m’n kind, is een gevoel, dat is met geen pen te beschrijven.

Juul is doorgegaan met dansen en zit op de Balletacademie. Coco klimt het liefst in bomen en doet atletiek.

Het hoogtepunt van mijn dag? Als een peuter van 2 in de dansles tegen me roept: “Kijk juf, ik kan het al!” en daarbij z’n voet optrekt tot hoog boven de knie.
Het zelfvertrouwen dat een kind krijgt van de lessen, dat is iets dat mijn hart doet gloeien. Het is wat mijn lichtje brandend houdt. 🕯️
Ik wens dat alle kinderen van Amsterdam en omstreken dit gevoel van vertrouwen en zelfvertrouwen bij ons kunnen ervaren. ❤️

Sinds we in ons nieuwe pand zijn, betrekken we de ouders meer bij de dansstudio. We geven Contakids ouder&kind lessen, Fluentbody Babywearing les en Mama Yoga. Een nieuwe passie, die ervoor zorgt dat Damoves als levenswerk groeit en nog lang zal bestaan voor jou en jouw kind!

✨ Teacher Tuesday — Meet Ilja ✨
Growing up in Friesland, Ilja discovered her love for singing, dancing, and theatre from a young age. From Ciske de Rat to the Frank Sanders Akademie and performing in De Tocht, performing has always been a big part of her life. 🎭
Alongside her work as a freelance singer, Ilja works in childcare — bringing together everything she loves most: helping children grow, having fun, and fostering creativity.
At DAMOVES, Ilja loves taking children on little adventures, filling her classes with imagination, movement, positive energy, and plenty of playfulness. ✨
We’re so excited to have Ilja join the DAMOVES family and can’t wait for our little dancers to meet her! 🤍

Meet Ilse 💛

With a background in Musical Theatre from Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts, Ilse has spent years performing on stage in musicals, children’s theatre productions, and educational performances that inspire young audiences.

Alongside performing, she discovered a second passion at Damoves: supporting children’s growth and well-being. This inspired her to pursue a degree in Pedagogical Sciences, combining her love for the performing arts with child development.

For Ilse, every dance class is about so much more than learning choreography. It’s about creating a safe and joyful space where children can build confidence, express themselves, and simply enjoy moving together.

From her very first ballet class at age four to her work today as a yoga teacher and motherhood coach, movement has always been at the heart of Querien’s journey.

After rediscovering the joy and freedom of dance through her daughter, she found her way to Damoves—bringing together playfulness, connection, and a love for movement.

💛 For Querien, dance is a way to reconnect with who we truly are: free, authentic, and full of life.

Meet Elodie ✨ — a dance teacher, choreographer, and creative spirit who has been dancing, acting, making music, drawing, inventing, and climbing trees for as long as she can remember 🌿🎨🎭

Her journey has taken her through Codarts in Rotterdam, the Dance Teacher program at ArtEZ in Arnhem, and a Master’s in Choreography at SEAD in Salzburg, where she further developed her artistic and educational vision.

In every class, Elodie creates a space where children are encouraged to be fully themselves. Through movement, imagination, and storytelling, she invites young dancers to explore, connect, and discover new worlds together ✨

For Elodie, dance is about curiosity, creativity, and celebrating each child’s unique way of moving through life 💛
