Tornadoes Overcomes Stubborn Savannah Scorpions, Lifts Maiden Edition Of Gusau/AhlanCup Pre-season Tournament.

The Ikon Allah Boys claimed bragging rights after edging Gombe United FC at the Sani Abacha Stadium Kofar Mata Kano, to cart home with the giant trophy of the Gusau/Ahlan Cup pre-season competition in what was a highly contested duel that was witnessed by NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau alongside NFF chieftain and Chairman of the Kano State Football Association Alh. Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan.

The two premier league teams emerged from Group A of the competition after finishing the group games in first and second places respectively with the Savannah Scorpions coming out tops after winning all their three including a surprise three nil defeat of the Ikon Allah Boys.

New boy, Osai Kingdom stood between the sticks for Niger Tornadoes, while Abba Khalid and Idris Saidu both produced an eye-catching performances as wing backs.

The Ikon Allah Boys ran riot in the opening stages of the game with David Okoromi and Waheed Adebayo causing troubles for the opposing defenders.

Pressure paid off when Okoromi was recklessly hacked down inside the penalty area and the referee wasted no time in pointing at the spot kick. Waheed Adebayo made no mistake, as he powered home the kick to give his team the advantage.

All efforts by the Savannah Scorpions to level up proved abortive, as the Tornadoes bench introduced a more experienced Lucky Abdullahi who saw the game out, with some outstanding saves to the admiration of fans inside the Sani Abacha stadium.
