Not all errors are mistakes, and not all mistakes are errors. Knowing the difference can change how you handle setbacks (and how you talk about them).

🔹Error— usually systematic. A process broke down, a calculation was off, a technical flaw crept in. Errors tend to repeat until the root cause is fixed.

🔹Mistake — usually human. A judgment call, a slip, something unintentional. Mistakes are often one-off, and awareness alone can prevent them from happening again.

KEEP THIS IN MIND

If you're fixing a MISTAKE with a process overhaul, you're overcorrecting.

If you're fixing an ERROR with "just be more careful," it'll happen again.

Meaning: The occurrence of finding something valuable or pleasant by chance.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐀𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

The graduation ceremony was over.

Parents hugged their children. Phones flashed. Pictures were taken. Certificates were proudly displayed.

As everyone was leaving, I noticed something.

A teacher quietly packed her bag and walked away.

No applause. No certificate. No award.

Yet, I couldn't stop thinking about her.

Four years earlier, many of the students who crossed that stage couldn't write a coherent paragraph. Some struggled to speak confidently in class. Others had almost given up on themselves.

But day after day, teachers showed up.

They corrected scripts that no one would ever see. Repeated lessons that students had forgotten. Encouraged children who didn't believe in themselves. Celebrated little improvements that never made it to social media.

Then it struck me.

We often say, "The students graduated."

But that's only half the story.

Every graduation ceremony is also a quiet testimony to the teachers who stayed committed when progress was slow and appreciation was scarce.

So, dear colleagues, as another set of students leaves our classrooms, don't measure your impact by the applause at the graduation ceremony.

Measure it by the lives that have been shaped.

Years from now, many of these students may forget the exact lessons you taught.

But they will remember how you made them feel, the confidence you built in them, and the standards you refused to lower.

Graduation is not just the celebration of students.

It is also the silent reward of every teacher who chose to keep showing up.

To every teacher reading this: thank you. Your work echoes far beyond the classroom.

⚽ THE MATCH WAS GREAT ... BUT THE GRAMMAR WASN'T.

Last night, after watching a football match, I opened Facebook to see what people were saying.

One comment caught my attention:

Argentina won Egypt 3–2.

I smiled.

The excitement was understandable, but the sentence wasn't quite right. 🙂

Here's why.

In English, "win" and "beat" are not used in the same way.

✅ You beat an opponent.

Example: Argentina beat Egypt 3–2.

✅ You win a match, a trophy, or a competition.

Example: Argentina won the match. Argentina won the FIFA World Cup.

It's a small difference, but using the correct verb makes your English clearer and more natural.
