CROWN FC SURVIVAL GLADDENS OYELAMI
By OyoSportsNews
Goalkeeper Oyelami Abel has expressed relief and delight after Crown FC secured their Nigeria National League status on a dramatic final day of the season. The Ajilete Warriors confirmed their survival despite a narrow 1-0 defeat to Heartland FC in Owerri, with results elsewhere proving decisive in their favour.
Crown FC’s fate was ultimately sealed by Smart City FC, who recorded a crucial victory over Abia Comets FC, ensuring the Ogbomoso-based side avoided relegation. The outcome sparked relief within the squad, as they held on to their place in the second tier of Nigerian football.
Between the sticks, Oyelami delivered a commendable performance, making five key saves to keep his side in contention for much of the encounter. However, he was eventually beaten late in the game, conceding in the 86th minute to his former teammate, Jonathan Osondu.
Reacting after the match, the shot-stopper expressed gratitude and satisfaction over the team’s survival, describing it as a hard-fought achievement. He further assured supporters of improved performances in the coming season, as Crown FC look to build on the experience and aim for a stronger campaign.
