Fake Football Club Fooled the World

In 2021, a team called Bishop Sycamore from Ohio, USA, got a game televised live on ESPN against powerhouse IMG Academy.

But…

The team didn’t really exist.

Players were adults pretending to be high schoolers.

They had no actual coach.

They lost 58–0, and players were injured because they were totally unprepared.

In 1996, Colombian goalkeeper René Higuita—already known for his eccentric style and his famous “Scorpion Kick” save—did something truly wild.

While playing for Atlético Nacional, he wanted to prove that he could score goals too. So, in one match, he told the coach he was “sick” and couldn’t play in goal. The coach believed him and benched him.

But Higuita secretly changed into an outfield kit, snuck back onto the pitch disguised as an outfield player, and came on as a striker in the second half. The coach didn't even recognize him at first!

Even crazier? He scored a goal.

One of the strangest football stories in 2021 happened in Serbia. During a game between Serbia and Portugal, the referee did not count a goal scored by Cristiano Ronaldo in the final minutes.

Ronaldo was very upset. He threw away his captain's armband and walked off the field.

A firefighter named Đorđe Vukićević picked up the armband and sold it at an auction for $75,000. He gave all the money to help a 6-month-old baby named Gavrilo Đurđević, who needed one of the most expensive medicines in the world.

Thanks to this act, Gavrilo got the treatment he needed and his life was saved.
