Sir Jim Ratcliffe is said to have been pivotal in the call to part ways.

Ashworth played a huge role United's £183million summer spending spree in the first transfer window under Ineos leadership.

The club signed Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs De Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui.

Ashworth was also involved in the decision to initially keep Erik ten Hag and hand him a new contract, only to for him to be sacked just 14 games later.
Ratcliffe said: "We’ve not been good enough at recruitment, you probably agree with that. Everybody would agree with that.

"And until we’re as good as anyone in the world, then it’s not good enough for Manchester United.

"We must have the best recruitment in the world. Data Analysis comes alongside recruitment. It doesn’t really exist here. We’re still in the last century on data analysis here.

🎙️ Slot:🗣️ "Last season, there were man marking on the midfield, and they had a press with the seven and 11 (the wingers). So with the striker, and one of the wingers jumped with him.

"This season, they are more with a 9 and 10 press, so they're more in a 442. So that's different, of course. I see them, in my opinion, working harder if the ball is being played through them, so they run more. That's at least what I saw in their first games.

"Their style is also - this is maybe last season, I don’t remember that well - but their full-backs, nine out of ten times, are really high, and then Casemiro comes in between. So, if you pick up the ball and you can keep Diaz and Mo Salah high, then you're constantly in a one-on-one situation.

"Then you need midfielders that can run, and we had three of them today that kept running, and if they arrive in a duel, they are aggressive enough to win it. So that was, I think, one of the main reasons why we could win today."

Putting emotions aside, let's apply some COMMON SENSE to the situation..

1). We all knew Casemiro wasn't to be relied on this season, which was why the club wanted to sell him, but no offers, and also why the club did everything possible to get Ugarte.

Ugarte won't singlehandedly solve our system/structural issues, but he'll improve our midfield and help us play better.

2). Like I repeatedly said yesterday, Erik ten Hag rightfully takes MAJORITY of the blame as the team's set-up is down to him, but expecting him to be sacked now is just VERY UNREALISTIC as we all know this won't happen. The board will definitely allow him some time to work with the team, which is exactly why he was given a chance this season and backed with signings this summer.

But if in 2-3 months when we have Ugarte, Shaw, Mount, Højlund all available and there's no drastic improvements in overall team performances, then no one will question the decision to replace him by December, which is actually a period the club will be realistically expected to act, not 3 games into the season.

This is my thoughts.

I don't even why everyone blaming Casemiro for Manchester United lose to Liverpool, but I think we should blame Onana. When player lose a ball to opponent the only hope remain is for keeper to save the goal, that day Onana doesn't make a single vital save. Useless goalkeeper, useless manager that doesn't use second keeper
