Your Title Changed. But Did Your communication?
Every now and then, professionals get promoted.
Maybe to manager.
Director.
Principal.
Or they get the opportunity to own a school.
The position changes.
The responsibility changes.
But does the way you communicate change with it?
Leadership demands more than being good at what you do.
You now have to lead meetings, correct people, handle difficult conversations, answer challenging questions and represent your organisation.
And those conversations require a different level of communication.
Your professional competence may have grown.
Your title may have grown.
But your communication, presence and ability to handle high-stakes conversations may still reflect the level at which you previously operated.
That matters.
I call it the Leadership Level Gap:
Your responsibilities can grow faster than your communication.
Your title can change before your voice does.
Has yours caught up?
Have you ever felt that your responsibilities grew faster than your communication?
What changed for you when you stepped into leadership?
