BLAME MIGHT WIN THE ARGUMENT… BUT IT WON’T FIX THE PROBLEM.
When something goes wrong at home, our first instinct can be to ask:
“Who did this?”
“Whose fault is it?”
“Why did you do that?”
But what if we asked a different question?
“How can we fix this together?” 🤝🏽
The Bible gives us a beautiful example in Genesis 3.
When Adam and Eve sinned, blame entered the conversation almost immediately. Adam pointed to Eve, and Eve pointed to the serpent.
Everyone had an explanation.
But the problem remained.
And sometimes, that is exactly what happens in our homes.
We spend so much energy proving who is wrong that we forget to work together on what needs to be made right.
A healthy family doesn’t mean nobody makes mistakes.
It means mistakes become opportunities to practise honesty, accountability, forgiveness and growth.
Instead of:
❌ “This is your fault.”
Try:
❤️ “What happened, and how can we make it better?”
Instead of:
❌ “You always do this.”
Try:
❤️ “Help me understand what happened.”
Instead of:
❌ “I told you so.”
Try:
❤️ “How can we prevent this from happening again?”
Because in a family, the goal should not be to have a winner and a loser.
The goal should be to protect the relationship, solve the problem, and grow together.
Sometimes, the most powerful words you can say at home are:
“We are on the same team. Let’s figure this out together.” ❤️
💬 What would change in your home if “Who is to blame?” became “How can we fix this together?”
