🗣️ Roberto De Zerbi: “When we signed Carlos from Lille, I saw something that was difficult to teach. He was young, but he had the mentality of a player who wanted to dominate the midfield. The power, the aggression, the ability to carry the ball and recover it these qualities were already there.

“People compare midfielders differently. Kanté had incredible anticipation and could cover the whole pitch. Pedri has extraordinary technique and intelligence. Caicedo is fantastic at winning the ball and controlling space. But Baleba has a combination that is very rare.

“He can defend like a midfielder, carry the ball like a player who wants to attack and use his physical strength to completely change the rhythm of a game. When he starts driving forward, you can feel the opponent’s midfield going backwards.

“I wouldn’t say he is already better than Kanté, Pedri or Caicedo because every player has his own career and qualities. But I will say this: Baleba has the potential to reach a level where he can be mentioned alongside those players, and maybe one day above them.

“If Manchester United sign him, they are not buying the finished product. They are buying a player who still has another level inside him. And if he finds that level, they will understand why we believed in him from the beginning.
