π¨π₯ ENGLAND COMPLETELY ANNIHILATED CROATIA! 7-0!
England didnβt just beat Croatia tonight β they destroyed them. It was a completely dominant performance from start to finish. Honestly, looking at the game, it was as if trailer jam keke! ππ
England were playing with so much fluidity, intensity and confidence that at times it looked like they were facing an academy team. Seven goals, seven-star performance! βββββββ
Harry Kane scored a brace, while Anthony Gordon, Bukayo Saka and Morgan Rogers β who came on in the second half β all got themselves on the scoresheet. Almost every attacking player England brought into the game had an impact.
And that is exactly what squad depth is all about.
This international break is showing why having a strong squad is so important. Look at England's rotation. Look at the substitutions. Players came in, players went out, and the level barely dropped.
Na England dey do today against Croatia! π
But for Croatia, this result should be a serious wake-up call.
That great Croatian midfield generation that once had Luka ModriΔ, Ivan RakitiΔ and Mateo KovaΔiΔ is no longer what it used to be. Croatia's midfield has always been their identity β their engine room, their strength and the foundation of their football.
In those days, you could see ModriΔ, RakitiΔ and KovaΔiΔ controlling games, with players like PeriΕ‘iΔ providing quality in attack. That generation gave Croatia a distinct identity.
But today, the younger generation has to step up because the legs are no longer there.
Look at how England ran through that midfield tonight. Trailer jam keke! π
And that is the biggest concern for Croatia. If you lose control of your midfield, you lose control of the game. For a country whose football identity has been built around midfield quality, that is a massive problem.
Croatia need to go back to the drawing board and rebuild.
Because if they don't find a new generation capable of taking over that midfield, competing at the highest level will become increasingly difficult.
And conceding seven goals in front of your own home fans, without even a consolation goal to give them something to celebrate, is a brutal night.
England, on the other hand, were simply too good.
Everybody seemed to be on top of their game. Bukayo Saka was fantastic, the attack was fluid, the midfield controlled the game, and even with all the rotation, England never lost their intensity.
A massive kudos to Thomas Tuchel as well. So much rotation, so many changes, different players coming in and out β yet England still delivered a complete performance.
England 7-0 Croatia.
Tonight, England showed the importance of quality, depth and competition within a squad.
As for Croatia, the message is clear:
The old generation is fading. The new generation must step up. ππ·
Because right now, that midfield identity that made Croatia so difficult to play against is no longer the same.
Seven goals. Seven-star England performance. π₯π΄
