Ever wondered why the military calls its flags Colours instead of just flags?

Think of the banners in Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon. The moment a banner was raised, everyone knew who ruled. Real-life armies worked much the same way. In the smoke and chaos of battle, soldiers rallied around their regiment's Colour not just to know where to fight, but to remember who they were fighting for. Losing it meant losing honour; protecting it meant protecting the regiment's very identity.

Today, Colours are displayed only during important ceremonies, symbolizing honour, unity, heritage, and commitment.
That's why uniformed youth and paramilitary organizations, such as the Boys' Brigade, proudly carry and honour Colours not merely as flags, but as living symbols of their identity, discipline, and tradition.

DO YOU KNOW THE TWO PILLARS OF THE BOYS' BRIGADE?

Many people confidently say the two pillars of The Boys' Brigade are Religion and Discipline. Others are not even aware that the Brigade has two pillars. Others have forgotten

However, the pillars are Christian Religion and Discipline.

The inclusion of Christian is not accidental. The Boys' Brigade was founded as a Christian organization with the aim of advancing Christ's Kingdom while developing young people in character, discipline, and service. Our discipline is therefore rooted in Christian values and teachings.

Christian Religion reminds us that our faith in Christ is the foundation of everything we do.

Discipline ensures that we live out that faith through obedience, good conduct, responsibility, and service to others.

As members and officers, let's be careful to preserve the identity and heritage of our organization by stating our pillars correctly:
CHRISTIAN RELIGION AND DISCIPLINE.
