The long awaited Dan Majen Gombe Football Competition is here as LGA matches kicked off yesterday at Nafada and Funakaye LGAs respectively.

At Nafada center, Golden Stars played against Biri Champion while at Funakaye Bajoga Warriors tackled Kupto United.

The opening ceremony of Gombe LGA will be conducted on the 24th of December, 2021 as games continue at various centers.

MAIN ORGANISING COMMITTEE ROUNDS UP DANMAJEN GOMBE FOOTBALL COMPETITION LOCAL GOVERNMENTS DRAWS WITH BALANGA AND YAMALTU-DEBA

The Main Organising Committee has successfully conducted draws for the first edition of the Danmajen Gombe Football Competition for Balanga and Yamaltu-Deba Local government areas at their respective headquarters - Talasse and Deba.

For Balanga local government, twenty clubs from 10 wards would battle for 2 slots while Yamaltu-Deba with 11 wards will see 22 clubs going head to head for 2 slots.

While speaking at the headquarters of the two local governments the competition's head of Technical and Organisation Suleiman Adamu Cheldu was the brain work of the chairman of Gombe State Sports Commission Malam Hamza Adamu Soye as a way of congratulating the Governor of Gombe state his excellency Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya for the traditional title of the first Danmajen Gombe conferred on him by the emir of Gombe and to appreciate him for his support to sporting activity in the state.

He called on the chairmen of the two councils to give maximum support to the competition and the participating clubs and officials to abide by the rules governing it.

Earlier, the Gombe state Grassroots Football chairman, malam Hashimu Ibrahim informed the council chairmen that Gombe Sports Commission would reward the chairman who at the end of competition emerged as the most supportive chairman especially in the area of security at venues of the matches.

The Secretary and Head of Technical of the competition, Murtala Sambo and Umar Kenya dolled out the rules and regulations and the criteria for registration.

They warned that the organizers of the competition would not hesitate to ban any club, official and/or player found for un sportsmanship behaviour from the competition.

Responding, the representatives of the chairmen of Balanga and Yamaltu-Deba Local Governments assured of their relentless support for a hitch free and successful competition.

The draws was conducted under the supervision of the General coordinator of the competition, Alhaji Kwairanga Kabiru, Commission's Director Technical Mrs Zainab Adamu, board member Aliyu Summonu and Bala Ajuji.

THIS COMPETITION WILL NO DOUBT UNITE THE PEOPLE OF GOMBE: Rev Phanuel Lasobok (Deputy Chairman of Billiri LGA)

The Deputy Chairman of Billiri LGA, Rev Phanuel Lasobok has described the Dan Majen Gombe football competition as a tool that will unite the people and bring about peaceful coexistence among the people of Gombe State.

Rev. Lasobok who represented the chairperson of Billiri Local Government, made this statement while speaking during the draws of the competition at the Local Government secretariat on Thursday.

He commended the vision of the organisers, who he said is in tandem with His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya's program for youth development.

''This competition will no doubt unite the people of Gombe because in football, there is no religion or tribal differences''

While assuring that the local government administration will provide enabling environment for peaceful competition, he prayed that the competition will be the key required that will see players from the region in the future playing for professional clubs especially Gombe United.

''I used to go to Gombe and watch Gombe United, and I noticed that none of the players are from Tangale Waja despite the numerous talents that abound here. I hope this competition will showcase the talents here and I believe they will progress and play one day for Gombe United''

Earlier speaking, the chairman of technical committee of the competition, Mallam Suleiman A. Cheldu said that football is no more a recreation but business, as such, players and coaches shouldn't see the competition as just an ordinary football competition, stating that the aim of Dan Majen Gombe Football Competition is to fish out talent from grassroot then market them to clubs in and around the country.

The draw which was made of two teams from each of the ten wards produce intriguing fixtures with Billiri North A against Tanglang B and Tal A tackling Bare B. as some of the mouthwatering fixtures.
