Maximize Your Girls' Talents

Gone are the days when girls were believed to end up in the kitchen. The whole kitchen in the world 🌍 can't hold them now.
(This is not to imply that girls are now exempted from house chores)

They're out there making a name for themselves, family and their country just as Tobi Amusan did for Nigeria. Even the deaf spoke of her records.

Your girl-child can do the same if you learn to help her explore her talents.

My training sessions help you to be in a better position to nurture your children's talents — whether boys or girls.

As parents, you're your child's first teacher. Learn to teach them the right way to explore their talent.

Does this sound like something you would like to know more about?

Send me a dm or Whatsapp me on 0816 881 5284.

The beauty of bedtime stories.
Bedtime stories are a great place to start when you want to raise smart kids and fluent readers.
No matter how busy you are as a parent, develop the habit of reading to your child right from birth. Some parents are smart enough to start reading it to their kids during their pregnancy days.
Research has found that young children whose parents read to them daily have been exposed to at least 290,000 more words by the time they enter kindergarten than kids who aren't read to regularly. And depending on how much daily reading time kids get, that number can go up to over a million words. The benefits of reading to your kids cannot be overemphasized.
Schools can encourage the parents of their leaders to read bedtime stories for their kids, by coming up with books that are age-appropriate for the kids and tagging them "book for the week" (or whatever name you deem fit), and sending them home for parents to read to them to their kids.
As you do this consistently, you are sure to get an early reader. Hope this has been able to help you. Till I come your way again, keep your dreams alive and stay connected with me on Facebook and Instagram at the smartparentcoach.
Remember, I am still in the business of teaching moms how to get their kids to read fluently. Send a dm or WhatsApp at 0816 881 5284 if you need help in that regard.

*Pregnancy; two edged sword ⚔️*

In recent times, I have heard about one death or the other of the death of a pregnant woman or the new born baby. Some of these deaths were totally unavoidable but others were avoidable.
Though no two cases are the same and there are some deaths that are inevitable, there are few things we can put in place to at least avoid the avoidable deaths.
Disclaimer: I am not a medical personnel, I am not an authority in maternal mortality or delivery and gynecology. I say what I say based on only my own experience or experiences of others close to me.
1. Attend your antenatal religiously. Don't think you know it all especially if you are a first time mom.

2.Read up a lot on pregnancy and delivery.

3. Seek a second opinion, some women use two hospitals, if you can't afford a private hospital, there are good government run hospitals.

4. Follow the advice of the expert, in this case your doctor, not your religious leader. Your religious leader is an expert in religious matters.

5. Follow your instincts, as a mother, your instincts are very powerful, your gut feeling, that inner voice, nudging you softy in the background.

6. Be prayerful. Ah, your spirit man must be very active, because the state of pregnancy is a very delicate one. Please be alert spiritually.

Let me stop here. If you will like a continuation of this piece, kindly type "yes", in the comments. Till I come your way again, keep your family and parenting dreams and stay connected with me on all my socials @ TheSmartParentCoach.

Many Malalas Exist.

A woman now in her seventies told of how her mother played a huge role in ensuring that she went to school amidst low-income, inlaws discouraging her from sending the daughter to school because it's a girl child education and all. Mama stood and conquered.
At a time when education was not very important, especially for a girlchild, her mother made so many sacrifices to ensure that she went to a school.
To think that the lady in question did not make it easy for her mother as she recounts. She said she will constantly refuse to go to school every morning with a lot of crying and resistance.
The stress she put her mother through every morning just to get ready for school was enough for any mother at the time to just give up and say, "Don't go to school again." Instead, the mother persevered and stood her ground.
Eventually, she outgrew crying in the mornings and started demanding to buy books that were not even recommended by the school. Yet, mama will buy it just to make sure, the daughter had no excuse whatsoever, not to go to school.
Today, she is a graduate, though retired but she owes her quality of life to the sacrifices made by her mom. Again, I say, many Malalas exist.

It's World Malala Yousfazai Day!!!

She is a big deal in my daughter's life. She is one of the inspirations Jasmine has.
After she indicated her interest in the world of charity, her mentor Zion Oshobugie challenged her to go and read up on women doing amazing stuff in the non-profit sector and voila, she discovered Malala Yousafzai.
Today, we celebrate Malala Yousafzai on this day declared by the United Nations as International Malala Day in honor of her fight for the education of the girl child and all the challenges she had to go through.
As we mark this day, we encourage every girl in every nation to chase their dreams no. matter what it takes. As Jasmine says, 'If Malala can do it, you can do it."
If you are a teacher and would like your student to know about Malala Yousafzai, send a dm or WhatsApp chat on 0816 881 5284 to get a free lesson plan for a 40-minute lesson on Malala Yousafzai.

Malala Yousafzai.

Did you know that 12th July 2023 has been named World Malala Yousafzai Day? What an impressive feat! Do you know who Malala Yousfazai is? Do you celebrate her in your school? It will be nice for you to talk about her in class of at the school assembly. Ok, let me tell you who this wonderful young lady is.
Malala Yousfazai is a young female activist who fought for female education in Pakistan. She was born on the 12th of July 1997 in Mingora Pakistan. She is best known for the fight for the rights of women to receive education.
Malala's childhood was one of peace and happiness. She grew up in the city of Mingora with her two brothers. Theirs was an Islamic family. Though many girls didn't attend school at the time, her case was different. Her father was a teacher who ran a couple of schools for girls.
At one time, the Taliban came into power and began to come up with laws restricting people from doing a lot of things. One of these laws was stopping girls from going to school. Malala began to speak out against laws stopping girls from receiving education via a blog.
This outcry led to her life being in danger as the taliban where not happy with her boldness in speaking about these things. One day, she was tracked down and shot in the school bus. The gunshot almost took her life but she managed to survive, after which she was flown out of Pakistan to England to receive treatment for her gunshot injury.
Thankfully, she survived and has since become the ambassador for female education world over.

My Hard Work Was Not In Vain.

So I told a story of how I taught my daughters to read when they were under five years old. It was not a walk in the park but I was determined to make it happen.
I succeeded. Guess what? The benefits far outweighed the pains of the work I put in. First, the girls developed an unbeatable love for books. So much so, that the girls will choose books a thousand times over cartoons so we did not have fights over screen time.
Again, another benefit was that, because of their love to read books, their vocabulary soared. See, these girls when conversing with you will use words that even you as an adult will have to think deeply to understand.
Naturally, they became fluent readers, and by extension, fluent speakers and great writers. Which also meant they were excellent spellers.
So in 2019, the Little Genius Spelling Bee Championship was announced to them in school and we registered for it. That was how sister, No 2, kept scaling each stage until we got to semi finals, she scaled it yet again, we made it to finals.
My sisters and brothers in the Lord, that was how sister emerged the grand finale of the Little Genuis Spelling Bee Championship with a total prize of cash and a non cash gift worth #300,000. I was a satisfied mum. My hard work paid off.
You can be this mum. I invite you to join the free class on Phonics Basics and Pre reading Skills. To be a part of the class, send me a dm or WhatsApp me on 0816 881 5284 or join with this link. https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWeu826mzSOCyqg8F4twO8

Just For laughs!!!

So back then when the girls were about two and four years, we had a bedtime routine we had come up with. So I usually would read their devotionals to/with them, then I send them off to their room to go and pray, while I listened to them from my room; the door to my room was adjacent to their room.
Usually, the Ada (my first daughter) will lead the prayers. So on this faithful evening, Ada started of the prayers but stopped to check if her sister's eyes were shut. To her displeasure, she found the sister's eyes open.
The following conversation ensued;

Ada: Abc close your eyes

Abc : Silence

Ada: Abc, close your eyes.

Abc: Total silence and staring.

All the while, I kept mute, eager to know what the outcome will be.

For the third time, Ada goes, Abc close your eyes.

Suddenly, Abc retorts sharply, "Ada, you too close your eyes."

Me: On the floor, 😂 reeling in laughter.

Oh my, these kids will not kill us. “Ehen nau", how they say it in those skits. If your eyes, were not open, you wouldn't know that is how mine were open as well.
I am still your Literacy Queen. To join my free class on,
