Yesterday, I welcomed the National Economic Council (NEC) Implementation Monitoring Committee to Katsina State as part of its fifth-phase monitoring exercise across the country. I was pleased to showcase the progress we are making under our Building Your Future agenda, with the continued support of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

From road infrastructure, healthcare and education to agriculture, renewable energy, digital transformation and public service reforms, our administration is implementing projects that directly improve the lives of our people. With over 400 tractors supporting agricultural mechanisation, more than 250 renovated primary healthcare facilities, and over 30MW of renewable energy deployed across critical public institutions, we are taking development to communities across Katsina.

We welcome constructive monitoring and evaluation as an important tool for accountability, stronger Federal-State collaboration and improved service delivery. Our commitment remains firm: to build a stronger, more prosperous and sustainable Katsina where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.

2027: 80 Trade and Transport Groups Declare Support for Governor Radda
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting traders, transport operators and small businesses across the state. The assurance came as a coalition of about 80 trade and transport associations, representing an estimated 30,000 members, declared support for his leadership and 2027 re-election bid.

Governor Radda highlighted the administration’s investment of over ₦5 billion in KASEDA to support businesses, create jobs and expand economic opportunities. He urged the groups to connect their members with available government programmes and translate their political support into grassroots mobilisation.

The coalition commended the administration’s achievements in security, agriculture, education and MSME development and presented Governor Radda with an Entrepreneurship and MSME Development Award in recognition of his economic empowerment initiatives.

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has called for greater unity, cooperation and structured engagement among former Local Government Chairmen, former members of the State House of Assembly and other stakeholders within their association. Receiving the group at the Government House, Katsina, Governor Radda appreciated their longstanding support and emphasised the value of their grassroots experience in strengthening political engagement, governance and development.

He also urged political leaders to remain responsive to the needs of citizens, particularly young people, while cautioning against actions or statements that could undermine the goodwill built over the years.

Governor Radda endorsed the proposal to establish about 15 clusters based on federal constituencies to provide a structured platform for former Local Government Chairmen and former lawmakers to contribute their experience and expertise.

He encouraged the association to channel members’ concerns through its leadership and assured them that the government would consider their request for office accommodation. Ahead of the 2027 elections, the Governor appealed for unity, forgiveness and reconciliation among political stakeholders, while urging members to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Katsina State Government and other candidates and political structures of their choice.

Earlier, the Chairman of the association, Rt. Hon. Ya’u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo, described Governor Radda as the father of the group and reaffirmed their support for his administration and political aspirations. The Deputy Chairman, Hon. Musa Adamu Funtua, highlighted the growing relevance of the association under the Radda administration, noting that several senior government and party officials had backgrounds in local government administration and the State House of Assembly.

Katsina State has intensified its efforts to curb the illegal sale, diversion and misuse of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), a life-saving nutritional product provided free of charge to children suffering from acute malnutrition. The State Task Force on RUTF Misuse, chaired by the Commissioner of Health, Hon. Musa Adamu Funtua, held a strategic meeting at the Commissioner’s Conference Hall to strengthen measures for protecting this critical nutrition commodity.

The meeting resolved to reactivate Local Government Area (LGA) Task Force Committees, intensify community sensitisation, strengthen monitoring and enforcement, conduct advocacy visits to security agencies, and deploy mobile court enforcement against individuals involved in the illegal sale or diversion of RUTF. The initiative brings together key stakeholders, including the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, Civil Defence Corps, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other relevant partners.

The renewed action reflects Katsina State Government’s commitment to protecting vulnerable children and ensuring that RUTF reaches those for whom it is intended. RUTF is not for sale. Communities are encouraged to help protect the commodity, report cases of misuse or illegal diversion, and support the collective effort to save children’s lives and combat malnutrition across the state.

The Governor reaffirmed that his administration would continue to do everything within its capacity to provide good governance and deliver meaningful projects and programmes across the state.
He, however, cautioned political stakeholders against actions or statements that could undermine the goodwill and relationships built over the years.

“We may accomplish many things, but one or two careless words or actions can damage the goodwill that has been built. That is the reality of politics,” Governor Radda cautioned.

Governor Supports Creation of Constituency-Based Clusters
Governor Radda expressed support for the proposal to establish clusters based on federal constituencies as part of efforts to improve the organisation, coordination and effectiveness of the association.
He proposed the establishment of approximately 15 clusters, bringing together former Local Government Chairmen and former members of the State House of Assembly. He said the arrangement would provide members with a structured platform through which they could identify areas where their experience and expertise could be effectively deployed.

According to the Governor, each cluster could develop a clear template outlining the roles and areas of contribution of its members, while the association’s leadership could evaluate the available opportunities and determine the most effective ways to achieve its objectives.

“We can have about 15 clusters representing the federal constituencies, comprising former Local Government Chairmen and former members of the State House of Assembly,” he said.

Governor Radda disclosed that several members of the association were already serving in various government and political capacities, including as party leaders, commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants and other public officials.

Governor Radda also recognised the contributions of past political leaders, particularly the late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, whose leadership, he said, provided guidance and direction to many political actors, including members of the legislature, during a significant period in the political development of Katsina State.
He noted that politics was fundamentally rooted in the grassroots, where political actors had a deeper understanding of their communities, voters and the credibility of individuals within their constituencies.

The Governor therefore urged members of the association to utilise their extensive grassroots experience and political knowledge to strengthen political engagement, governance and development in the state.

“I have no doubt about the capacity of members of this association and what you can contribute to politics and governance,” he said.

Governor Radda further stressed the importance of recognising changing social realities and the challenges confronting the people, particularly the growing concerns affecting young people.

He urged political leaders to remain responsive to the needs and expectations of citizens and to support programmes and initiatives designed to improve their welfare and standard of living.
