🚨 *OFFICIAL STATEMENT: ENRIQUE RIQUELME CAMPAIGN*
Real Madrid deserves more than noise, lies, and smear campaigns between fans who share the same love for the club. Democracy at Madrid should never be limited like this.
*On Florentino Pérez’s attacks*
In the last few hours, Mr. Pérez and his inner circle have chosen personal attacks and tension over the calm, respectful debate this club deserves.
He spread information that is completely false, based on reports the outlet itself has already apologized for and corrected. The operation in question was financed by a $2B corporate bond issue in the U.S. at 7.25% — one of the largest in Latin American history, with $8B in demand.
*On our candidacy*
Our campaign, led by Enrique Riquelme and backed by his personal assets, has been validated by the Electoral Board under the club’s statutes. Any insinuations about outside influence should be explained by Mr. Pérez himself, after 20 years in power, including the role of his family and associates in the club’s management and intermediaries.
For context: Riquelme was 15 during the Ramón Calderón era. The only team member from that time is Antonio Medina, who resigned from the Real Madrid Foundation board last week to join us. We also have Juan Mendoza, son of former president Ramón Mendoza, who served under Calderón but resigned after 3 months over disagreements.
*On democracy at Madrid*
Questioning Florentino’s decisions is not “attacking Real Madrid.” It’s a democratic right that strengthens the club and gives voice to the socios — the true owners.
It’s unacceptable that members’ concerns about business deals and the influence of figures like Anas Laghari are silenced or ridiculed. These issues deserve transparency and answers.
*Our challenge*
We formally invite Mr. Pérez to a public, televised debate. Let both candidates answer questions and debate the club’s model, projects, and the unanswered questions around his team’s business dealings.
The socios deserve the truth, full information, and institutional respect. Times change, but Real Madrid and its values must always come before any individual.
