Wikki Tourists FC's decision to promote 10 indigenous Bauchi players is a huge step in the right direction. Investing in homegrown talent is exactly what every club should be doing, and the management deserves credit for that. 👏
However, one name missing from the five players promoted from the feeder team has left many football lovers asking questions: Salim Soja
For the past two seasons, Salim has been one of the standout performers in the Wikki Tourists feeder team. His midfield dominance, leadership, work rate, and ability to score stunning free kicks made him one of the team's most consistent players
If the selection was truly based on merit, as the club stated, many would like to understand why a player of his quality was overlooked
This is not an attack on the club or the players who were promoted. They all deserve congratulations. But football is also about fairness and transparency. Supporters, especially those from Katagum Local Government, deserve a clear explanation
Was there a technical reason? If so, let the football community know. If not, perhaps the management should reconsider this decision
In my opinion, Salim Soja did enough to earn a place among the promoted players.
