The Mgbowo Unity Football Tournament 2025 reached a thrilling climax on Sunday, 4th January 2026, at the BSS Mgbowo Football Pitch, as Warriors of Amata FC and Alechara FC battled each other to a tense 0–0 draw after regulation time in a Grand Final that lived up to its billing.

From kick-off at 3:00 PM, the encounter was fiercely contested, with both sides displaying tactical discipline, physical intensity, and a clear determination not to concede.

Warriors of Amata FC, playing with confidence and cohesion, dominated spells of possession and pushed forward with intent, probing the Lions of Alechara FC defence through the flanks and set-piece situations.

Despite their numerical strength and attacking urgency, clear-cut chances were few, as finishing proved difficult against a resolute opposition.

Lions of Alechara FC, on the other hand, approached the contest with calm assurance and defensive organization. Their backline absorbed pressure effectively, while their goalkeeper delivered a composed and commanding performance, producing timely saves that kept the scoreline intact.

On transitions, Lions of Alechara FC showed flashes of attacking threat, forcing Warriors of Amata to remain disciplined at the back.
As the game wore on, tension grew inside the BSS Mgbowo Football Pitch, with both teams searching desperately for a decisive breakthrough.

However, after ninety minutes of hard-fought football, the deadlock remained unbroken at 0–0, pushing the championship-deciding match into a penalty shootout.

In the ensuing shootout, Lions Alechara FC demonstrated superior composure and accuracy from the spot, converting four penalties, while Warriors of Amata FC managed two.

The defining moment came when Lions of Alechara FC’s goalkeeper; Mr. Onyebuchi Joseph, produced a crucial save, swinging momentum decisively and sealing victory for his side.

The penalty success crowned Alechara FC champions of the Mgbowo Unity Football Tournament 2025, marking a historic triumph achieved through discipline, resilience, and mental strength. Warriors of Amata FC, though narrowly defeated, earned widespread respect for their fighting spirit, organization, and consistency throughout the tournament, leaving the pitch with pride after an admirable performance in a memorable Grand Final.

*PRINCE AKACHUKWU GLOBAL FOUNDATION AND SKYSHORE FOUNDATION TO HOLD ANNUAL FOOD DISTRIBUTION FOR WOMEN OF MGBOWO L’ESE IN CELEBRATION OF DR. PRINCE A.S. AKACHUKWU’S BIRTHDAY*

The Prince Akachukwu Global Foundation (PAGF), in collaboration with Skyshore Foundation, is set to host its Annual Food Distribution Program for the women of Mgbowo L’Ese, benefiting 500 selected recipients.

This initiative is part of the Foundation’s commitment to community empowerment and social support.

Eligibility:
Participation is strictly by invitation, based on a shortlist provided by the Village Heads and Parish Priests. Women who wish to be considered are advised to contact their respective Village Heads and Parish Priests.

A tightly contested opening 45 minutes ends all square as both sides cancel each other out in a tense final encounter.

THIRD PLACE PLAYOFF | FULL-TIME REPORT ⚽🔥

The curtain falls on an action-packed Third Place Playoff at the BSS Mgbowo Football Pitch, and it was a thrilling encounter that delivered goals, drama, and pure determination from both sides. In the end, Imeama FC stamped their authority with a commanding 4–1 victory over Inyi FC, sealing the Third Place position in the Mgbowo Unity Football Tournament in emphatic fashion.

From the opening whistle, Imeama FC showed clear intent, pressing high and dictating the tempo of the game. Their early dominance paid off in the 23rd minute, when Uchenna Eze broke the deadlock with a well-taken finish, igniting celebrations among the Imeama supporters. The momentum stayed firmly with Imeama FC as they continued to push forward with confidence and purpose.

Just before halftime, the pressure told again. Ezenta Somto found the back of the net in the 44th minute, doubling Imeama FC’s advantage and sending them into the break with a comfortable lead. The first half ended with Imeama FC firmly in control, while Inyi FC faced an uphill task going into the second half.

In the 48th minute, Inyi FC showed great character and resilience as D**e Emmanuel pulled one back, giving his side a lifeline and briefly shifting the momentum. However, Imeama FC responded like a team determined to finish strong. Refusing to sit back, they reorganized quickly and regained control of the midfield.

The turning point came again through Ezenta Somto, who completed a brilliant brace in the 68th minute, restoring Imeama FC’s two-goal cushion and effectively silencing any hopes of a comeback. As the match wore on, Inyi FC tried to push forward, but Imeama FC remained disciplined and dangerous on the counter.

The final nail in the coffin arrived in the 87th minute, when Eze Chibuike calmly converted to make it 4–1, putting the result beyond doubt and capping off an outstanding team performance.
