One of the saddest things happening quietly in many African homes is this:
Children are eating…
But they are not being nourished.
A child can look “full” and still be severely malnourished.
Many children eat mostly carbohydrates all day — pap, noodles, bread, biscuits, rice, sugary drinks — but very little high-quality protein. Over time, the body begins to struggle silently.
Poor concentration.
Frequent illness.
Weak immunity.
Slow growth.
Low energy.
Poor memory retention.
Delayed development.
These are not always spiritual attacks.
Sometimes, the body simply lacks nutrients needed for proper cellular development.
This is why eggs are one of the most important foods for growing children.
Eggs contain complete protein with all essential amino acids required for tissue growth, brain development, neurotransmitter production, and immune support. They are also rich in choline, which supports cognitive function and memory formation in children.
Vitamin A in eggs supports vision.
Vitamin D supports bone development.
Selenium and zinc help strengthen immune defense.
This Sallah, while we celebrate with rice, ram meat, small chops, and soft drinks… parents must remember something:
The greatest gift you can give your child is not only celebration.
It is nourishment.
A child who eats eggs consistently may perform better academically, recover faster from illness, and develop stronger metabolic health over time.
Sometimes the difference between a constantly sick child and an energetic child is not expensive medication…
It is daily nutrition.
A wise parent protects the child’s future from the dining table first.
