It is a painful reminder that the internet is not always a safe place for vulnerable conversations.

Recently, I decided to add MAC. I'm told their foundation is 80k.

But this morning, MAY Yul-Edochie post popped up on my timeline and she was advertising what she called the 3 wise bottles.

1. Makeup remover/skin vitals

2. Setting spray [spray in between makeup applications]

3. Face Freeze/Make up sealant to lock makeup so it doesn't stain my clothes or eyeglass

I will buy it plus the foundation and concealer.

I love lightweight makeup, not the ones that make it appear that you used a whole bottle on your face.

MOST MEN DON’T RATE THEIR WIVES

Most African men have no regard for their wives.

They will woo her, do all to convince her to marry them.

Once she does, she becomes the bearer of disregard and disrespect.

They will flaunt other women with zero regard for the wife's feelings.

They expect their wives to carry the burden of keeping the home, birthing children, raising them, and so much more while receiving less honour, visibility, and respect than women outside.

It's as if the marriage certificate becomes a licence to be ridiculed by a husband.

Sidechicks are given more money.

Sidechicks get to spend more quality time with the man because the wife is busy being the burden bearer of the home.

Sidechicks do not have to deal with the excesses of in-laws.

It has become a case where the wife carries the responsibilities while another woman receives the attention, excitement, and generosity.

I hope we are not heading toward a generation of women who see more value in having children and leaving than in staying married.

Because right now, many women are looking at wives and sidechicks and concluding that the sidechick seems to get the better deal.

And if you think I'm joking, know that about 80% of the women I've worked with who are planning to leave their marriages have no intention of remarrying.

For many of them, marriage is no longer about finding a life partner. It is simply the most affordable path to having children - the cheaper alternative to surrogacy and IVF.

The men who treat their wives poorly may soon realise they have the option of many sidechicks but very few women willing to make a full-time commitment.

And if it gets to that, it will become a matter of the man who has the most money to spend outside.

A marriage survives when both spouses feel valued.

The day a wife begins to feel less important than everyone else in her husband's life, the foundation of that marriage begins to crack.

We cannot keep treating wives as burden bearers while expecting them to remain enthusiastic about marriage.

I hope couples begin to do right by each other.

YOU THINK YOU MARRIED THE WRONG MAN. NOW WHAT?

One of the saddest places a woman can find herself is believing she married the wrong man.

Maybe the red flags were there. Maybe he changed. Maybe you were too young.

Maybe you ignored what you should have paid attention to.

Maybe you genuinely did the best you could with the information you had at the time.

But the truth is that you cannot change who you married.

You cannot go back and choose again.

You cannot rebuild your future by living in yesterday's regret.

The more important question is:

What do you do now?

If you honestly believe you married wrongly:
1. Stop replaying the decision every day.
2. Stop punishing yourself for a choice you cannot undo.
3. Face your reality honestly.
4. Strengthen yourself emotionally, mentally, spiritually and financially.
5. Focus on becoming the strongest version of yourself regardless of what your husband chooses to do.

Whether the marriage improves or not, your life must not stop.

Whether he changes or not, you must continue growing.

Whether you stay or leave someday, you need strength either way.

The biggest mistake is spending the next twenty years regretting the first twenty.

You may not be able to rewrite the beginning of your story.

But you can still influence how the rest of it is written.
