Arteta on the Win: “I’m really happy. I think it was an incredible game to watch, to coach. It was fascinating from start to finish. The level, the quality, the way we competed, the way we attacked, the dynamics and the fluidity. The threat that we generated against that really tough opponent. It was incredible.
“And then so many of the performances that we missed a lot because last year those players weren't available for us, so we took the game to a different dimension. The crowd was incredibly connected to the team as well, and when that happens, it's extremely difficult for the opponent to handle both things at the same time. So, a really happy afternoon.”
Arteta: “We showed real composure, and we were really clear in the intent that we had, how we had to do it, and we showed incredible quality,” Mikel added. “We had to be patient, and we generated so many chances. They score, we score a goal and it’s disallowed. We continue and continue and continue, and that's why I think we got rewarded.
“We had so many [chances] as well. But for the very, very fine margins, we didn't manage to finish them. Those connections between players, that level of threat to occupy different spaces is very unpredictable, something that we are insisting a lot, and today it happened.
“You see where we are in relation to the level that is in the league, and how we can sustain that. We can still improve in many areas, a lot, and that has to be the narrative and the demands between ourselves, because we can reach better levels still, individually and collectively, and we're going to continue to do so.”
Arteta on Konsa’s big tackle on Rogers: "A very English tackle, the crowd reacted immediately - you guys love that more than a goal sometimes! It was great, obviously. What Ezri has done - he’s played 11 minutes, he had five or six training sessions and the way he played man-to-man against an opponent like Joao Pedro - I thought he was phenomenal"
Arteta on Kai Havertz’ performances this season: "He looks happy. He looks settled, happy, and some great things have happened in his personal life as well. He feels fit, he’s training every day and has this routine right now. He’s scoring goals, but not only that - he’s also doing amazing work for the team."
