A little update from Mutema Do mar 🌊
The kitchen island is almost done and we’re so happy with how it’s turning out. All the woodwork in the house is being done by local Mozambican carpenters, using Zambiri wood — and honestly, the craftsmanship here is incredible. The level of skill, and the quality of what they produce, is something really special (and at a fraction of what you’d pay in places like South Africa).
Outside, we’ve planted grass across the property and added six palm trees. They’re still small now, but it’s going to be amazing to watch them grow over the years. More planting to come.
The kitchen is slowly being stocked with all the good things to make cooking here enjoyable — still more to add, but it’s getting there.
We’ve also started knocking down the current braai area to rebuild it in a new space with a fresh look.
Inside, doors and frames have been painted, and we’ll be adding matte black finishes like handles soon. We’ve taken our time with decisions here — making sure everything feels right and lasts. Some of the existing couch cushions will also be reupholstered.
Next up on the short list: • New indoor furniture (couches, etc.)
• Outdoor seating for the stoep
• Swahili wall baskets for feature walls
• New and updated mosquito nets
There are still bigger plans for the future, but these are the things we’re focusing on getting ready for the June/July holidays.
If you’re interested in booking for June or July, you’re welcome to start reaching out.
