We decided to go for a completely different look and moved the braai further back into the yard, giving the area a bit more protection from the sea wind.

Like everything at Mutema, it’s slowly starting to take shape. Next up is bringing our landscaping ideas for the braai and yard area to life — and we can't wait to watch it all grow, figuratively and literally. 🌿

Last week, we spent a week living at Mutema — our first real chance to experience the house after some of the big renovations were completed.

And honestly, we had such a good time. 🤎

The house is already such a lovely place to live, and there’s still so much we’re working on and upgrading before December. But getting to experience it as a family made us even more excited about what Mutema is becoming.

Waking up right on the beach and seeing whales from the veranda every morning. Sitting upstairs while the kids played safely down on the beach and explored the rock pools. Setting up the gazebo and spending the day outside together.

The kitchen was one of my favourite parts. It’s already set up in a way that makes cooking feel social — you can be preparing dinner while everyone else is sitting around chatting — and then there’s the big dining area where we could all sit down and eat together.

And after a full day outside, the beds were already incredibly comfortable.

It really felt like what we always imagined Mutema to be: a place where you slow down, spend time together, and make memories.

And we’re still building towards the full vision. 🤎

So many things have happened behind the scenes since our last post that we sometimes forget to post😜

We have a very long booking confirmed for December, which means the house is now only available before the 13th...

This is considered low season, which also means it's a bit cheaper😎

One of our favourite things about staying at Mutema Do Mar is that you can leave your car parked and simply walk down the beach.

Step out of the house, turn left, and within a few minutes you'll arrive at Mango Beach—our next-door neighbour and one of the area's most loved beach bars and restaurants.

Start your day with great coffee and breakfast overlooking the ocean, enjoy fresh seafood or wood-fired pizzas for lunch, or end the day with cocktails as the sun sets over the beach.

For families, Mango Beach also offers a swimming pool and jungle gym, making it a favourite spot for little ones while parents sit back and enjoy the view.

Staying at Mutema Do Mar means having one of Tofo's best beach spots quite literally on your doorstep.

Located between Tofo and Barra, Mutema Do Mar is a beachfront holiday home sleeping 6 guests, with direct beach access, rock pools in front of the house, and incredible ocean views.

What a beautiful before and after already😍
It's crazy what some paint and a few small details can do to a space...👌🏻

We still have so much that we want to do to make this space even more stunning, but all in good time😉
