This week we taught Short Spine in some of our Reformer Whole classes. Did you know that there are multiple versions? This is the Fletcher version, created by Ron Fletcher (one of Joseph Pilates' students who helped shape modern Pilates through his distinctive teaching style and expanded repertoire). It focuses on stacking the hips more vertically over the shoulders into a Jackknife before bending the knees into a diamond and articulating the spine away from the feet. It encourages axial elongation and pelvic organisation before the descent. It may feel easier to execute for some people, while others may prefer the classical version.
