1 hour average power, many claim that is the Functional Threshold Power (FTP). If u have Garmin Connect / Strava using power meter data, they give you an estimated watts/kg. Strava is more conservative because u need to produce it in order to be recognized as your best power over the time. Now the biggest elephant in the room, can we replicate it in real life cycling? Can we keep doing it every ride? Well yes we can do it if the terrain is suitable.
Will we collapse after that 60 min effort at FTP effort? To begin with, it is not easy to produce the average power for 1 hour. U need the right terrain n pacing to do it.
In the snapshot is clearly shown the rider best effort in first 60 minute is average 203w and 216w for 46 min 48 sec.
However it is not easy to replicate on every ride. Some rides have up n downs repeatedly where u don’t produce watts, hence lower watts over 60 min. Theoretically it should be easier right? That depends on the rider recovery in between the efforts.
