Founded in 1983, Melaka Dragon Boat Association (MDBA) is the state sporting association of dragon boat activities in Melaka, Malaysia.

Our aim is to bring the community together through cultural celebration and our love of dragon boating!

The blazing sun and heat this morning 🔥🥵 were no match for the passionate youth members of Hakka Malacca 马六甲客家公会, who joined our training with great energy and enthusiasm.

Most of them are new to dragon boat, they are already preparing to take on a tough challenge next month. Their determination and team spirit are truly inspiring. Get ready to see Hakka Wave surge into Melaka Dragon Boat Championships 2026!

What an incredible day — three boats, all bursting with energy at our first Melaka Dragon Boat Open Day in 2026 🔥🐉

100% turnout among new paddlers from trying very first stroke to paddle in sync as a team. It was fantastic to see the boats filled with laughter, excitement, and great camaraderie.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you back at future training sessions. Let’s come together and continue growing the sport of dragon boat in Melaka 💪🤜🤛

We were thrilled to welcome the dragon boat team from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka - UTeM joined our training last Sunday. The first combined training since Melaka Dragon Boat Team began a humble start in 2025. We later spilt into two boats when more team members joined in, and a mini race to finish up the session. Thanks for dropping by, UTeM team!

Last year, 20 teams battled it out in the inaugural 8km race, pushing their limits with every stroke as sweat poured and adrenaline surged from start to finish. This year, Melaka returns 8km Open to once again test every team’s endurance, stamina, and team effort.

With even more teams taking on the challenge this year, only one question remains — who will conquer the course and claim the title of 8km Open Champion? Let’s find out!

This year, we’re proud to introduce our inaugural Masters Open category, bringing together the teams from across Malaysia and beyond. As senior teams go head-to-head, the question remains — who will emerge as the first Masters Champion in Melaka? Let’s find out!

In 2025, MDBA proudly reintroduced Women category after an 11-year absence in Melaka - marking a powerful step forward in celebrating diversity and inclusion in the sport. This revival proved that dragon boating is not only dynamic and competitive, but also a platform where women’s passion and strength truly shine.

Last year, 11 outstanding women teams delivered electrifying performances, igniting the competition with energy, determination and team spirit.

This year, the momentum continues to grow, with even more women teams joining the race. Who will rise above the rest and claim the title of Women Champion? Let’s find out!
