Nur Ezza Ashikin Abdul Razak
In the quaint town of Kajang, Selangor, a young girl named Eyknn found her love for futsal at age five. When she kicked a football, she knew this sport would become her lifelong hobby. Little did she know that her unwavering dedication and immense talent would take her on a journey beyond her wildest dreams.
As Eyknn grew older, she continued to enjoy playing the game casually with her friends, but she never entertained the idea of pursuing it more seriously. In 2018, Eyknn's exceptional skills on the pitch caught the attention of our national coach, leading to her selection to represent the country in the AFF U-16 Girls Championship held in Nepal. Encouraged by her supportive family, Eyknn decided to give the trial a chance, which was a transformative eye-opener for her.
After the tournament in Nepal, she joined Sekolah Sukan Malaysia Sabah and quickly rose through the ranks, showing her prowess as a remarkable goalkeeper. Her ability to read the game and lightning reflexes made her a formidable force between the posts. However, the pandemic severely hampered her progress as no training sessions or games were available during that period.
After completing her SPM, Eyknn decided to step away from football and shift her focus entirely to her studies at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia. Henrietta persuaded her to dust off her gloves and return to the field, as Negeri Sembilan needed a goalkeeper to compete in the Women's Super League. She ended up winning the Golden Gloves and only conceded 1 goal in 7 games. She was also the best keeper in the 2022 Piala Tun Sharifah Rodziah and her reputation as one of Malaysia's finest goalkeepers grew.
Eyknn's defining moment arrived when she received the call-up to represent Malaysia in the recently concluded SEA Games. The privilege of representing the Malaysia Tigress overwhelmed her with immense pride and reinvigorated determination. She is fully immersed in rigorous training and preparation for the upcoming Liga Wanita Nasional, where she will proudly don the colours of Kelana United , aiming to make her mark in the league.
